Back rest? On a sport tourer? I would nix Corbin simply on cost.

Get the wood beads from http://www.whitehorsepress.com first. If you don't like em, your only out $20. If you gotta have a custom try any of the Mayer clan, they've been building for years too.

I have both, and both are excellent. If over 6' tall I'd recommend the Corbin. It provides more room to the taller rider (but less passenger space). Vice versa with the Sargent. If of average height, go with the Sargent. I'm 6'5" and like how I can scooch back and lean forward with the Corbin. On the Sargent I can't scoot back that far and mostly must sit up like a flag pole.

I can't find that seat anywhere on ebay...just curious to see how it compares to the one I sold recently.

I think it was the same one. carbon fiber leather dual canyon, but has a small cut on the very back rear behind backrest area. (like from opening a box with knife)

I bought it for $200. After I let yours go, and another for more, I had to buy this one. My shop finally got all the demons out of my ride, so now I'm dollin' her up.

Can't wait for that new headlight kit.

Not sure about the STs but I can say that I have Sargent on my ss -was cheaper, very comfy, better looking and much lighter. Can post pics if you need them.

Bought a Corbin and rode 3000 on a week's vacation. Put the wife on back this past year so we got the backrest. Fitment is good and the backrest does help her hang on better and not be quite so tense. It is expensive - and one other problem -

My butt is still sore 5 months later - seriously. Now I hear you might need to break a seat in some but man it was tough. Must have actually bruised the bone.

Depending on your height, your sleeve length and which model ST (the '04's & up have higher bars) you have you might want to consider the shorter length rider's section. Considering a passenger for a long ride and the backrest really helps them relax from having to keep a hand grip - and the Corbin backrest does the trick.
I'm right at 5'10" and my sleeve length is 31/32 and I have an '03 ST4S. I got the standard Corbin that has a longer rider's section (shorter passenger deck) and if I had to do it over again I would get the model with the shorter rider's section. That would give you a bit more support right behind you to shift your weight back against when you need to get a 600+ mile day in. I'm thinking I wouldn't still have a sore tail.

My bike came with the "standard" Corbin (which I just sold). I sold it primarily to get the "close" version. With the standard, everytime I hit the gas, I would slide backwards in the seat, and conversely, when I hit the brakes, I would slide forward. To me, this was very annoying. Part of the problem was the fact that I wear aerostich pants most of the time. When I wore leather, it was less of an issue, but still there. My new seat is sitting on the bike, begging for me to ride, but the weather and road conditions are conspiring against me. We got another 8" of snow last night

looks like you've ruined your chances of selling that here pal. mine too. so far i'm giving it away on ebay... seriously these guys think $50bucks c'mon now! we'll see what happens in the next day or so. "ducati corbin" pulls it up. hey maybe try a sargent this time. also i saw some threads on corbin and sargent redoing stock seats that look "hot". they can replace foam and top cover.

I'm in denver, so we can ride all year- sorry about your weather, i'm just waiting for a bike to come in after trading that POS duc I had.

I've got a corbin on my 04 ST4s, and my riding buddy has a Sargent on his 03. Both seats are equally comfortable IMHO. But I prefer mine for the looks, and only because I asked for some custom red stiching (D-style) on the CF look seat material.

I just put a 04' stock ST on my 02' ST and am loving life. I think the improvements from the 02 to the 04-05 are just fine!
