Default Best rides - places and roads fit for a Ducati?

Now that we are getting ready to start hunkering down for a long winter here in Minnesota we are beginning to think about next year's big vacation tour in the early fall and maybe some quick 3-5 day runs that we trailer the ST4 down to warmer climates to break up the winter blues.

How about hearing from some of you on your favorite places to ride or events worth planning on attending during the winter?

The vacation plan for next year actually is to be in No Cal after going through a couple of the national parks on the way. We've done the PCH before but unfortunately that was in a car.

If you were going from say Vancouver south to San Diego, what roads would you say are the "can't miss gotta ride" ones to do? Who are the good Ducati dealers in your neck of the woods?

Not a "Viqueen" fan though. Grew up around Chicago so it's still da Bears.

Lots of great roads as you can imagine. From No. Ca. (by San Francisco) I'd have to say highway 1 through Big Sur and the state parks down to Cambria. Malibu Canyon once you get close to L.A. Highway 1 aka PCH south to Ortega highway (orange county) through the city of Hemet. If you make the trip, let me know and I'd be happy to give you lots more. As far as a dealer I can't help. I was happy with the dealer here in Orange County.
I too was in Chicago - Glen Ellyn, Schamburg, Roselle.
Take Care.

Thanks much! This is an extensive resource that I saved in my favorites and expect to refer to frequently.

This is a great way to use board like this so I hope others will contribute too.

I have a few rides from here in British Columbia and Washington, Montana at this link:

Mostly maps, but some narative text. Sorry they are not suitable for the winter, but next summer will be good.

Pick up a Book by Clement Salvadori, "Motorcycle Journeys Through Cailfornia", http://www.WhitehorsePress.com. The cover has an ST3 or ST4 on it, but seriously it's a good book by someone who knows what he is talking about.

There is a Superbike race in Birminham, Ala at Barber Motor Sports Park. The museum is a must see. If you are interested I can give you some roads from Northern Virginia all the way down, you could trailer to the local Ducati shop and go from there. Or even from Bristol, VA down there are some great roads. Contact me via email if you are interested.

Thank you everyone for all the great input! So many roads, so little time!
The book looks like a must-have.
2vtwin - the wife is looking at a 620 Multi so maybe we won't get down south this winter so we can save for the bike and the late-summer trip. I know for sure we are pointed East in 2006 though so if not next winter we'll definitely hit Barber the following late-summer.
