Default Battery

My Battery has died out after 3 years of service, I'm now in the process of replacing it. What is the collectives experience? should I stick with the Ducati Battery or is there any other battery you would recommend? My ST4s is a 2002 model non-abs. Thanks

Thumbs up Battery Options

There is nothing wrong with the stock battery, except it is a major pain to check the the fluid levels. Yuasa makes a gel battery that works well, and needs no maintenence. the YT12B-BS is much smaller than the stock battery and needs the Ducati adapter Pn: 82912701A to use as a spacer. I recently made the switch, so far so good!
The poles on the gel battery are reversed from the stock so you must flip it.
Hope this helps.......AGAS

Thanks for the advice, do you have any pics of the spacer and how you installed it? I guess it must be a pretty simple procedure

Default Spacer

Sorry F ROD, no pix. However the spacer is made to slip into the bottom of the battery box, and gives the battery enough height for the cables to reach the terminals. Hope this helps....agas

I replaced the Fiamm (stock) battery in my ST4 with a Yuasa of the same size and post orientation. Works great. Why go to a smaller battery? It's a touring bike so the 7 oz. or whatever you save doesn't mean much. For me a powerful battery is a must so I went with a Yuasa of the same size as stock. It was under $100.

FRIDAY I'm touring the Ducati factory in Bologna and I'll ask them! Yea, like I speak Italian...
