Default Multistrada?

I'm seriously considering purchasing a Multistrada. I dig the looks, it fits and the mpg is a bonus.
I have two options; a 2005 and a 2007(has warranty). Both have under 1500 miles, in great shape and alot less expensive than a brand new Multistrada.
Can anybody chime in about they're experience with these bikes; likes, dislikes, mechanical issues, anything I should be aware of?
Are there any after market bits I should consider?
Thanks
ps: If I pull the trigger, this will be my first Duc.

I might be able to help. First, the stock seat is bad, hard as a rock. I have the Comfort DP seat which is a hugh improvement. Second, the front brake rotors are fixed as opposed to full floating. Under hard braking, fixed rotors can be real scary! So, I replaced the wheels and put full floating rotors on. The difference was dramatic, much safer. Other than that I've had no problems. They are a heavy bike but handle great, as good or better than bikes weighing less.

I agree, the seats are horrible, then again, most factory ducati seats are slabs of rock hard gack. could you tell more about the new wheels and rotors you put on?

My understanding is the two worst thing are the seat and the looks. The seat can be changed and the you like the looks so ride on!

I put BST wheels on w Braketech rotors. You'll need a 998 style OEM axel and spacers. I also put on bar end mirrors then mounted some Rizoma turn signals to the front fairing. The stock mirrors were bad on the '03. My next thing will be to replace the rearsets. The stock footpegs are too low and very slippery(to me anyway). I changed the front brake pads as well. Mine has the 992cc motor which is good but I rode one of the new 1100 cc versions and they are better.

Cycle World described the Multistrada seat as "A Weapon of Ass Destruction"

sburns,
I missed that review, thats classic!

LJ&G,
thanks for the wheel info, I was able to ride an '04 1000DS and an '07 1100S on the same day, not long enough to have my ass destroyed though and yes the 1100S was a much better machine.

Whippersnapper,
Yes the looks are ?, but, from the cockpit it's not bad and the wind screen is where it's at on my daily 60 mile commute, ugh...
