Default Thinking about riding FULL TIME.

I was riding the other day (I've got an 04 RC51 BTW) and it began to rain and I thought, "the only reason riding would be unpleasant during the rain would be the fact I did not have the proper gear to shield me from it, also with the proper gear I could ride in the cold (even our coldest of days) without bitterness toward my sport. I love to ride. I mean: I love it. If I didn't love my wife I would be riding any chance probable! So I thought, something that has the umph, agility, and looks I need along with the sport-tourer adequacies would be the Multistrada.

The Ducati IMO is the best looking motorcycle in the category that could provide me with the potential I'm looking for. So naturally, I'm gonna look here first.

Who here loves their Multistrada, and why? and would it be a recomended tool to use for this type of lifestyle?

Sub-questions if you will: How are they on dirt-roads? Dirt-road to street comparison?

As Dave R said http://www.multistrada.net has a lot of information on the MTS. You also might want to check out http://www.advrider.com. IMO, only you can decide if the MTS is the right bike for they type of riding you want to do. It was for me. It's sweet spot is the twisties. Most fun under a TON! (100mph). It's a Jaguar on country road - tough to keep up with an experienced rider on a MTS. Probably not the best choice for the superslap - there are heavier options with more protection BMW-RT, ST1300, etc. Also, not the best option off pavement, here KTM and VStrom type bikes are probably better. Many Ducati dealers will let you test ride one. Check it out

I hear ya, that's good info. I definitely need something for dirt roads. I'm not gonna restrict myself from that. I'm thinking about camping trips and the lot, I've got to have the dirt option. I'm probably gonna go with the BMW 1150 GS Adventure. I've read such good things about it, and I believe it will last a long, long time.

thx guys.

That Bmw would also be a great choice. I've never found one bike (or type of bike) that did all things well. There is a trade off in any one bike. I've found that I have to have a dirt bike for the trails of Colorado and a MS for the twisties and backroads. I really like my crf450 for the dirt.
