Default Backfiring s4....arrrrrgh!

My monster, out of the blue oneday, started backfiring. The bike has a PCIII w/ a custom map!? I took the bike back to the person who mapped it and he made some adjustments which helped but didn't eliminate the problem. Are there anything else that could cause the bike to backfire other than FI?

Plugs gone bad??? If anybody adjusts the ecu it will change your PCIII settings.

Are you going to the italian show this weekend S. lake Union?

thanks Rick. I was thinking the plugs. I'll get them checked. I will be at the show. What time do you expect to be there? Hopefully we can meet up.

An exhaust leak could cause it.

Fuel injection mantra #1:
FUEL FILTER FUEL FILTER FUEL FILTER FUEL FILTER.

If you repeat this enough it will calm your nerves. If the bike has had no other changes and it starts to backfire, check the fuel pressure, or just replace the filter. ALternatively check the feed and return lines INSIDE the tank for a split hose.

BACKFIRE = LOW FUEL PRESSURE in 90% of cases.
