Default Please help m1000s i.e. problem

Was wondering if anyone has had a problem like this with there m1000. When I put the key into the ignition and turn it to the "on" postion and the starter starts cranking the bike over right away without me hitting the starter button, the only way to shut it off is too turn the key back to the off position, the kill switch will not stop the motor from cranking over. I checked the starter solinoid and it click and seemed to work but i replaced it just in case and the bike still does the same thing. I also made sure the battery is charged and working properly. Also clean and check the ignition switch to make sure it was working and not stuck. My bike also has a ultimap ecu so im wondering if it some how failed if it could cause this kind of problem or could this have something to do with the immobilazer?

thanks in advance for the help.

My advise.....

Check the r.h. switch. Sounds like your starter button is "sticking". Although, if the "kill switch" will not stop the starter motor from turning then the contacts inside the "starter motor relay" are fused together or the contacts for the "kill switch" are not making contact to stop the starter motor from turning. Inside the "starter relay", the contacts become fused together when the operator continually tries to start the motorcycle with low battery voltage. A faulty "ignition relay" (large yellow 5-pin relay) should not cause this. Although if you have a short and the relay/bike is wet it could be possible.

hey Ducati BOB,

Did some looking around after reading what you wrote and my bike sat over night in the pouring rain one night, turns out the lower part of my harness was full of water. Pulled out the harness and hopefully i can dry it or ill be looking for a new one.

thanks for your help,
mike
