Default HELP - cracked cylinder on Foggy102

Guys,
Just pulled the bike out of storage and the horizontal cylinder is cracked. Track weekend on the 24th of May..... Yes my fault, stupid storage location....

Two choices. Does anyone know where to get a cylinder? or a complete motor.. S4 or ST4S would be great.

Any replies or suggestions would be a HUGE help as the clock is ticking and Ducati wants $1900 for a replacement cylinder [parts only]...

HELP.... Jonathan

No help for you now but I'll have a lower end available when my other motor is built. I think infoage had a lower end available at one time so check with him. Saw a complete motor on ebay for 1k + 150 for shipping. good luck.

Default Foggy cylinder hell

Hello again,
Thanks for the post earlier on the shipping weight of an engine.
This morning I purchased am ST4S engine on the advice of Tom [infoage1] who's running the same setup. He assures me it drops right in and will be cheeper and faster than trying to replace the cracked cylinder, re frost plugging the vertical, and doing a valve job that was required this spring. My calculations say he's right. Doesn't make sense that an entire motor is less money that fixing the old one but what the hell. I'll take the extra power.

Now I have to get the engine from Alabama to Toronto in no more than a week.

I'll need a power commander to get the fueling right, and I hear the St4S gearbox is crazy tall, especially 6th gear. No time to split the cases and fit the close ratio box in the Foggy. Future project.
I did find a MyChron digital tach, temp guage, and lap timer for $200 on eBay in the Karting category. DEAL !

Are you running the 996R this year?

Jonathan

ST4s engine is the way to go. I'm doing that soon with a few upgrades and mods.

Haven't ridden much yet. We have had a terrible spring for ridding. Hoping it turns around soon.
