Default Monster cowl

Quick question; I've been trying to swap the headlight/ front cowl set up that is presently on my wifes '03 620 for a stock set-up. So far, no interest. Not that no one is interested in swaping (I'd buy the stuff from someone if need be), no one on the forums seem to want to let go of thier stock set-up. I'm digressing, was there a change in the shape of the front fairing around 2002? I've seen some '98 and '99 fronts come up on ebay, but they look a little 'rounder' than the later models.
Thanks for the input Monster people

Tonto

There have been 3 OEM fairings: early until 1999, 2000 through 2001 (exc S4), and 2002+. The earlier rounded one that you have seen a lot of mounts differently and although the 2000+ looks the same the mounting differs after 2001 as well. The earlier years won't fit the later years due to differences in the way the headlight support and top triple are arranged. Check out the .pdf parts fiches at ducati.com for more details. DP sells a kit with all you need, but you can also call any Ducati dealer and they can piece the kit together. That is what I did in fact, and Miles at BCM did a lot to make sure I got whatever I needed. Get ready for $300 or so including the OEM windshield and a couple of $10 special screws. Don't forget the insulating mounting rubbers and you will be all set.

Oh, one last thing. I opted for a Zero Gravity windscreen instead of the OEM clear one and the fit was horrible at the nose. I called ZG and sent pics back and forth and they eventually replaced it saying it was cut incorrectly at the factory. All ended well but after all was said and done I was better off going with an OEM screen. YMMV of course.

I have the headlamp fairing from the mid-90's monster on mine. Order the windscreen from lockhart philips for a 1st gen 600 bandit. It ligns up nicely, and is taller. You just have to drill some extra holes to line up with the fairing.

Below is a pic of the bike just before my wife and I rode to deals gap last summer.
