Default monster forks in 916 triples

hi.ive got a set of s4 monster forks 54mm,that i want to fit to 916 triples 53mm..........is it ok to turn down the fork diameter by 1mm rather than bore the lower triple?////////////any ideas?thanks

I would bore the lower triple as you can see exactly how much material you're working with. Anything but Magnesium should be no problem and much less expensive than fooling around with the forks.

i agree with foggy102. its a hell of a lot easier to bore out the lower, quick work with a boring head. however if you have to disasemble the forks for any reason its nothing to zip off a mm in the lathe. and not to mention the mistake factor (this seems to affect only my stuff...) its a lot easier (for me) to make a boo-boo with a boring head,

just remeber one thing measure twice, cut once.

Plus you would probably want to have them re-anodized.

dont turn down the forks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

get the triples bored

the price of fork tubes for resale is more that a set of used triples.
the pain involved in turning fork tubes is emense plus the wall thickness and the anodizing plus the dissasembly problems. it just get expensive fast.
