Default y2k 750 Monster

Howdy. I'm an RC51 guy (please don't start...) but may be picking up a 2000 750 Monster as my "new" street bike this weekend. It's got about 16k on the odometer, and looks to be in 9 out of 10 shape from this pics the guy sent me.

Any thoughts on what to beware of?
I've always wanted a Monster (and Ducati for that matter... )
Who knows, y'all might convert me.

Thanks,

Lou

.... well.... now you mention it....

Heya Lou, not at all man, I have been off deck a while from a neck op, that is my excuse and I am sticking to it!

M750, cool kit, no real trouble making stuff there, just see if you can get the service history with it but if it is a 9/10 it would seem to have been looked after anyway.

They are not known (as far as I am aware) for anything specific to look out for, with the milage if it was gonna do anything dumb it woulda done it by now.

Got any pics to share?, I would be keen to see it, I am looking at some m900's at the mo for a two seater as the MH is only a single seater.

You might want to hit ducatimonster.org for more information. Most of the MOnster guys use that site to share info about Monsters. Go there and do a search and you will find a load of info about the M750 and those that know/love them. Good luck!

For what it's worth however, coming from an RC51 you will likely be disapointed with the power of the M750. You might be better suited to looking into a M900 or M1000. With the S2R's growing popularity, there are numerous good values to be had.

Thumbs up thanks for your replies...

I wound up picking up the bike before reading your responses this past weekend. I figured it was a good deal. $4000 for a y2k, with 16,250 miles. (SF, CA)

guy had all the service records (from the 1st owner as well), bike had new rear tire and front and rear rotors and pads over the last 1,000 miles. plus clip-ons were a nice touch.

as for the lack of power, now worries. got my first ticket about 2 hours after I got the bike. cop was sorta decent and wrote it for 65 in a 55 (clocked me at 85 - he was coming the other direction both of us sorta going uphill). I wanted this bike b/c i wanted a lighter-less powerfull machine for everyday. the wife has yet to be on the back of one of my bikes, but if that changes I'll get something more suitable. did want a 900, but not at that price...

I'll be lurking...
