Default Monster from a 916/996/998

Has anyone made a standard like a monster out of a 916/996/998? You would have a monster like bike with great handling and it would be stylin if you do it right.

Thanks. I have seen that thing in person, and it looks like a giant RZ350 bumble bee. Man is that an ugly @ss bike. I used to go to that shop all the time until Dave hired some bald headed nazi who treated my friend like a low life for asking what he would have to do for a test ride! As far as I am concerned, they are stuck up and I would rather drive the extra 2 hours to Portland to buy my Ducati. I would much rather see Arun at http://www.Motocorsa.com . That shop rules.

What I was hoping for is a Monster that "handles", but I guess the closest thing I will get to is an S4R. I am just concerned about the handling and the power, or lack there of. Sorry, but paying $13,000 is the issue here. I am torn between what my Heart says, as I am in love with the thing, and what my wallet says, as I will be spending loads of money afterwards trying to pick up mods (clip ons, exh, slipper clutch, CF, weight loss, etc.).

The pain of dilemas.

Have you ever tried a S4 or a S4R that has properly setup suspension and engine?

I would sugest you to do that before cutting a 996. I love the look af a naked 996 but it will not out perform a S4R with 45mm headers. Engine and forks are the same and the brakes are better on S4R. The rest is just a question if setup

yup i have the same impression about that shop.

this is what i would do. buy an S4, this can be had for less than 8 grand. this is the best buy in my opinion.

8000 for bike. http://speedzilla.zeroforum.co...47690

1750 for suspension. ohlins rear shock and ohlins internals in the forks.

5 to 6000 for head work, pistal h/c pistons, sps cams, 50mm full pipe, exhaust and header, new FIM ecu.

1000 for forged aluminum rims.

then you would have a bike that would be hard to beat in the twisties.

if you can do all or some of the work yourself it would be even less.

I think I need at least 3 bikes. My crazy Foggy which I rode tonight, it's still crazy. Then I need a 750 SS to learn on then I have to build something super crazy with a titanium frame and the most ridic motor.

If I had know that I could have put a bigger crank in my Foggy 997 motor I would have done that in addition to the 1036 BBK.

I mean the damn thing is fast but not as fast as I expected and as long as the motor was apart we could have done the crank. I'd love some more torque too. Too bad I'll never be able to ride it to 20% of it's ability. Nevertheless, I still wish it would wheelie uncontrollably. I hate Jay Leno Phil

Good on ya vij. I totally agree. One Duck, definetely. I already have a beater for the track, a CBR600F2 called Grimace, a 929 for the mood, and want to pick up a Motard for crappy weather. But man, if the S4R does not call out to me. I love that bike so much. I see what some of you have done with clip ons and am in love, no in lust, with the gorgeous one from Holland. Damn. I need a classy streetfighter. A bike for all occasions: canyon strafing, hitting the streets of Seattle, riding the Pacific Coastline, and going to a fine restaraunt in a suit with the lady. Hell yes I am serious about the last one!! The S4R fits it all for me. I am just having serious, daily debates over what bike to get.

You see Brothers, I am in Baghdad right now, and will come home with $15k. There are these bikes, the S4R, Aprilia Factory, 636 (modded to 330-340lbs dry and 118 hp), Speed Trip, 06 ZX10R, 06 CBR1000RR, a used 998, or the Aprilia I4 with 190 hp to come out in 07. These bikes throw rocks at me from a distance, some throw rocks larger than others on certain days, but the Italian Birds always have the bigger rocks. And the S4R, well, she just speaks to my soul.

I leave Iraq, supposedly, in April of 06. I will have the money, and my roomate and I debate daily on what bikes to get. He plans on an R1, but is tormented by the S4R as well. He just begs for more engine as he is more about straights and can't really scream through corners. I am all about handling, but hate the idea of being beaten in a straight just to have to force my way around him in a corner because he is so slow there.

You options and ideas are really appreciated. I love this community and would love to have an S4R.

Here is your shopping list.

1 S4R
One set of Vee Two 748R/996SPS cams or Ducati 996SPS cams
900ss crank lightened and balanced
BCM 100mm big bore.
BCM or Guy Martin big valves and porting37/31 mm Carrillo rods
Silmoto full system
FIM U59 ECU
trottle bodies bored to 54mm
1mm squish
Assembly it, tune it and you will have performance as this bike but with a bit more grunt as it is a 1068cc.
http://www.visi.com/~moperfserv//road_trip.htm

This bike has 145hp at the rear wheel. Compare that to the japps crank power and you might understand .
