Default Shop manuals, special tools...

As a newbie Ducati owner..2 weeks... I can tell I need more info than the owners manual supplies. I am not going to rebuild the engine...but some pictures of exactly how chain adjusts, wheels come off and on as well as some torque values for these fastners would be nice. What is a good source..are the factory manuals very expensive?

Also...special tools...is there a giant spanner for adjusting chain excentric on single sided swing arms...or does everyone use a drift and a mallet?

Thanks...am sure I will have a bunch more questions. Have 125 miles on my Duc ..so far , very impressed.

Welcome bud. I asked that same exact question here when I first bought my Duc. Search the archives for some really extensive info but one of the best resources out there imo is eBay. You can sometimes find good quality paper manuals or if you are real lucky PDF manuals on CDrom can also be found. I got the whole electronic set for my CRF450 for pennies and keep it on my laptop for those oh so lonely nights in the garage.

There is a wealth of useful knowledge in this place with guys all over the planet that know just about everything about these bikes we all love.

Third edition has much more info than the second. LT did another awesome job with it. Colnago, the manual covers 4 valves and not your 2 valver, but it will have some info pertaining to eccentric adjustment on the s4r which should help.

Also I just noticed that LT has updated the desmodue/tre book. But its not due out until oct 15. For the engine stuff you can pick up LT's 1st edition of the desmodue book, a lot of the engine maintenance concepts should be the same.
