Default Per-2001 frame/bike vs. 2002/2003 frame/bike for Exhaust Install HELP!!!!!

I have a line on a set of high mount Ducati Perfomance cans specified for a 2001 and older Monster. The seller indicates there are differences between the bikes frames which make installation "interesting" Can someone shed some light on what this means and what the differences are and how "interesting" will it make the install?

I have an 03' 620 and these cans were specified for a 600/750/900 of 2001 and older vintage.

Thanks

i have not "studied" the 2 frames side by side but i don't think the frame has changed any from year to year on the Monsters. the hi-mounts will have a strap of some sort around the can that then wraps around the frame someplace by the grab handles (scatching the shit out of the paint). i think they'll work. a quick call to a Duc dealer should confirm this.

Thanks for the info Mike.

Just a thought but, are the mounting points under the seat (that hold the beer try on) in different positions on these two models? Maybe that would be the install problem.

shouldn't matter. the clamps will wrap around the frame someplace around the midpoint of the grab handle. that's before the beer tray right? i've long ago chopped the tail off my bike and can't even remember what it looked like with it and the beer tray.

From what Starti tells me the biggest difference is the placement of the seat lock which interfers with the brackets. Maybe someone with a 2001 or older bike could snap a close-up shot of the seat lock and the underside of the tail section for me to compare.

Many thanks.

They went from 851-derived to ST-derived...

Thanks B-Rock. Do you know how this might affect the install and'or hardware needed for install in this situaution? How about a quick photo of the underside of your scooter?

i've looked at pics of the new bikes on the web and at mine. key clearance for the seat lock could be an issue i guess. other than that i'd bet they work.

it's not just the location of the seat lock, but that SOME high-mounts will have you remove the lock from the mount on the frame, install the hanger bracket for the right-side can in that location, re-install the lock and then the left side hangs off a bracket that straps across the frame, under the seat. if the DP cans you're looking at do NOT use the key lock location on the frame for mounting, i bet you'd be just fine.

That POS was gone 15 minutes after I got the bike home

Anyway, after some serious soul searching, and a great deal $$, I'm going to go with some low megaphones. I was really torn between keeping the old school cafe racer look with the lows but clearance was an issue so the hi-mount seemed like the answer. I think the megaphones will give me the extra few inches of clearance and let me keep the Baby Duc OG

I'll post a photo when I slap them on. Many thanks to all that helped.

Well,

My old school game plan fell through as the cans I wanted got sniped, so. . .

Back to the drawing board. Emissions can gone. Maybe that's the only problem. Who knows!!!?

Well after a lot of fretting I ordered and installed the 01' DP hi-mounts on my 03'.

Pretty much went on without a hitch. A set of instructions would have helped but hey. . .

My little girl shows you how mean I'll look when tearing through the local canyons.

Thanks to all that helped.
