Default Clip-ons

Hi, I have a couple of friends looking to mount clip-ons like the vortex units I have on my race bike. The problem is, they will not fit under the tripple tree with the headlight mount in place. The DP ones are nice, but silly expensive. Does anyone out there know of a set that will mount under the tree, and still clear the headlight mounts?

first off what kind of a bike are we talking about? then have a look here if you don't mind cosmetic blemish's you can pic up CC's seconds for a little bit of a savings. may be worth a look. if you don't know or see what you are looking for give them a call, they are a great help.

Hotrod M944 w/Vortex clip-ons below the top triple w/stock headlight. had to do some tweaking of the brake/clutch lines but it's all good. what problems are you having?

we tried the PBR clip-ons and the pinch bolts will not clear the headlight brackets. I have a spare set of Vortex for my M900C so I will try them. I don't have a headlight mount on mine because of the 996 faring so any bars will work on mine. It is a race bike only right now. If the pinch bolts are on the rear is there any clearence problems with the frame? We mounted the PBR's above the tree on the 620 for now, and seeing that the owner is vertically challanged he didn't mind the forks being dropped that much, but the other guy wants to keep the forks at the stock setting.

i know what you're talking about now. remove the headlight and the "ears" install the bars. you'll have all kinds of access now. tighten them down then put the ears and light back on. i had to do this also.

Back when I had a monster I put clip ons that I picked up from Two Brothers Racing for about $50 (clearance sale). They fit and worked perfectly.

well thanks for the info guys! I completed the under tripple mounting of the PBR set by removing the ears first. I had to file the tube holding the ears just slightly to accomodate the large pinch set-up of the PBRs. This was on the 620, the 900 is getting a set of Cycle Cat clips, from all accounts they should drop right on. I will let you know!

Hey Mike, what kind of front fender is that on your 944? Do you think it fits a 96 SS and where are they available?
Thanks,
Al

that is a Duc Perf part. should fit an SS since i had an SS fender on at one time. i have since replaced it with an 888 replica fender. if you want it let me know. $125.00 + shipping. i paid more than that. it's flawless.
