hmmm. are they really selling enough monsters to have a 700 (695), 800 and 1000? the 600 was good as it was for an entry level bike. why make it so close in cc to the next up? they do a lot of stuff that makes no sense to me.

13 more horsepower than the 620...I hope they offer an aftermarket kit for the 620 now for us current owners.

i think this will kill 800 sales. who would buy the 800 instead of a 1000? are the prices that different? people looking for a smaller bike will end up on the 695 just as someone wanting a bigger bike will get the 1000. and while i'm sitting here confused by this why not put the 3 valve from the ST3 in all the SS and Monster frames? that would make sense and cut down on all these different motors that are close in cc and perf. is someone from GM running the show over there?

The st3 is liquid cooled the SS to me means lightweight air cooled engine.

Looks like there won't be a kit for us 620 people unless it is a split the cases affair cause the bore and stoke is different. 88 x 57.2 mm for the 695 and 80 x 61.5 for the 620.

that motor could be aircooled i bet but if not the added perf would be sweet on a new SS. but that's a different subject.

too bad it's not a direct bolt on big bore kit. do they make a big bore for the 620?

Because it would add weight and cost. There is not one Duc made in a long time that I would consider light weight. Going the water cooled, three valve route will not help this one iota.

Ducati is already having a hard enough time selling bikes at the current price/perfomance levels. Are they going to fly out of showrooms THAT much faster with the 3 valver? Personally, I think not.

Not without doing a fairly complete redesign with its attendant cost; passed on to the buyer of course.

Nah no kit for the 620, atleast that I know about. I think most people just sell their 620 and get another bike when they want more performance. There is a kit for the 750 and the 600 but not the 620. I could get the cylinders and pistons from a 695 and have an air cooled 2 valve 748! I might have to look into that.

It is actually more than that. It is 695, 800 and 992, 996 and 998. When is 999 coming?

I was wrong about this. The B/S of a 620 overbored or kitted to 88, is the same as the 750 desmodue not the 748 desmoquattro(58.8 stroke, not 61.5). So basically its the same cylinder from the old 750 desmodue with a shorter stroke. So I guess I could get some old 750 cylinders and have the same effect. Or grab a 750 big bore kit and have a 782, huh I wonder if that would work. I doubt it cause ducati would have already offered it for the 620s. But I bet the 695 cylinders have all of the right passages and would work.
