Default 996 Bp engine in S4?

I was thinking to maybe installing a 996 Bp engine in a monster S4.
The question is will it fit? I think that a can live with the front wheel clearance problem.

The question is the swingarm attachment. I can imagen that it looks different as the 996 has a singe sided swingarm. Has any one done this and can tell me what problems I can expect. Is it some adapters available to make it fit?

How about fuel injection. My S4 is running ECU 59 and a 996 runs 1,6. The singel injector of the S4 is no problems as the dual sucks anyway but what about the engine sensors. Are they in the same position and are they the same?

The ECU I plan to run the is a DP S4 ECU that I have and a PC3 to sort out with fuel. The 996 is also missing the L/H side cover and the clutch. I guess that I can use the ones from the S4.

What about headers? For the moment I am running ST4 headers. Will this "lowered exhaust com" headers fit normal 4 vlv heads?

Jocke.............

you'll need to get some bearing carrying inserts made for the 996 cases and have them (cases) bored at the pivot to raise it to the original s4 position and to suit the inserts. the s4 swingarm is also allegedly wider between the pin bosses too, but the inserts will take care of that easily.

easiest way would be to strip it, altho the pin area is seperate from the engine internal. get soemone who can get the engine on its side on a mill and you won't need to.

use the s4 alternator cover and cooling setup as it. it's the same engine, just a little different. all the headers swap too. i have st4 on my 851.

if you got a 748 - 998 swingarm i think everything would just bolt in pretty much. same style rear susp.

otoh, st4s motor goes straight in.

Nice. The alternator cover is missing anyway on the engine I was looking on so that will be perfect.

I was thinking about a 916 swingarm but I dont know if it will work with the ST4 system. Will have a look at that.

St4-S would be perfect but is not easy to find for the right money

st4 system will not think much of the 916 swingarm at all. but a 916 based system or s4r style would be fine.

putting a SSS or 999's swingarm on a monster s4's frame requires relocating the suspension rocker. not a fun exersize (just did it on my s4) but doable.

Single Sided Swingarm sometimes refered to as SSSA (a for assembly).
