i had entered my bike in the Monster Challenge and was invited to show my bike at the atlanta show but the circus is in town that weekend. i already have the tickets to the circus and a son who can't wait to go. oh well maybe next year.
but as an aside, why not drop your bike off in the morning and go to the circus anyways? you don't have to be in attendance for the whole show, do you?
I honestly don't think I have a chance at anything ... BUT I get a free meal Friday night and free admission to the show!
Did you tell them you wern't going?

not yet, i'll give them a call wednesday. i would like to go but i realy didn't think i would get the invite to the big show. so i made other plans for that weekend.
I feel the same way ...but, they have a peoples choice award ... and you know how people like the stacked headlights.
I took Friday off, but Daniella gave me the "we'll see" answer whick in martian means: "no efin' way ya jackass!"
But we had only planned a chill week-end and I could go up there myself ... ?
cool paul. it'll be good to bump into you again. i'll most likely be bumbling around the monster challenge area, i'll try to wear a "loud" hat or something to stand out.
unfortunately, i won't be running in the NYC monster challenge. the problem is i'm just not done with the bike. the problem is i was unrealistic with myself about the amount of stuff i needed to accomplish in the timeframe i scheduled.
i MAY get an opportunity to reapply for the montreal challenge next month but we'll have to see.
good luck to all in NYC this weekend though! believe me i WISH i could be there... for those who may be interested, here's some progress pics:
I actually just realized that this site had a Monster section. Dooh! Was lurking a bit in the RC51 section. See some familiar names from DML (can I say that over here?). Starti, I don't see how you have time to make those trick bikes between near 2000 posts here and over 3000 at DML (usually helping out clowns like me). Between my bike, mods, and the time I spend on DML my wife is already. . . well you get the picture. Finding this site might cause her head to explode.
Question: how's your front wheel to head clearance at full fork compression? I know with my SBK heads, which are 9/16-5/8" taller than S4 heads, I am to the limit of comfort (1/4-5/16") when my forks bottom.
Nice job!
Anyone interested, I have a line on a 998R motor/electrics/swingarm...

thanks! what's interesting is that the length of the horizontal cylinder is the same as the s4's from the forward frameboss. i was surprised by this but i guess it's one of the ways the testastretta head's more compact than the desmoquattro. it definately was a concern of mine before going after this transplant.

That's wild. It may be more to do with the over-square bore and short stroke, now that I think about it. Something I didn't consider. Cool. Do you happen to know your BxS off-hand?
bore is 100mm. stroke is 63.5mm
good point about the oversquare pistons being a contributor on the length. didn't even occur to me! but yeah, it's a bit reassuring. can't wait to get everything sorted so i can ride this thing! i'll have to put chains on the tires for all of our beautiful snow but what the hell?!
