Default Rear Wheel rubber shock tubes for sprocket??????????

Does anybody know how to remove the six rubber shock dampeners from the rear wheel of a 2002 S4 monster? I disassembled the wheel and sprocket assembly and I'm in the middle of getting both front and rear wheels powder coated. The wheel has to be in the oven for 10 minutes with a temp of 392 degrees f. I'm thinking I'll need to replace these bushing like rubber thing a mig jigs. Thanks for any help.

A slide hammer will do the trick easily and quickly.

D@#! , shoudl have looked at this post before I made arrangements for PC. A dealer that I trust says he has tried to remove those bushings and won't do it again. Talked me into regular paint, admittted it is not as good as PC but said it would hold up. How did you do on your project?

I used a M 16 threaded rod with a big thick washer to the inside of the bush, I then used a piece of 40 x 40 x 4 RHS and drilled a hole through it, this was wide enough to fit over the rim, I screwed the nut down over the RHS and quietly it drew the cush drive out quite easily with no huffing or puffing or banging, all six went back it beautifully will a little grease so they did not pick up.

Very sucessful and easy, hope this helps

They don't need to be removed. I have powdercoated two sets of wheels with them left in with no ill effects.

i've made up a rough tool that has a bolt coming thru from behind with a piece as big as the hole inside the wheel allows and a tube with a washer and nut on the front. heat the shit out of the wheel and get the rattle gun onto it.

that or wait 12 years. the ones on my 851 just fall out.
