Default S4 single side swingarm conversion

Can anyone tell me how hard it is to convert S4 to single side swingarm? What is involved? This would be on an "01" S4. Pictures would be nice too. Thanks all.http://2wg.com/icons/icon14.gif

Ducdude-

I asked the same question when I first arrived on this board. Apparently, there is a lot of work involved, as the superbike and S4 frames are quite different.

The biggest thing is that the superbikes support the swingarm from the outside, whereas the Monster swingarm bolts only to the rear of the motor. As a result, the rear mount on the motor cases is about 15mm wider than on the superbikes. This means you will likely have to machine the rear engine case motor/swingarm mount. $$$$ The other alternative would be to get a motor from a 916 or 996 superbike and mate it to your frame, but using the superbike's SSSA.

I have seen some that have made it work somehow - and I would love to do it on my MS4, but I don't know that the trade-off would be worth the effort. I would rather spend the time, effort, and money on other stuff.

If you're interested, I have a complete superbike rear swingarm (arm, shock, linkage, rear hub) available in my garage. Make an offer.

Edit: I sold the SSSA I had

Norm, a member of the board, sells a bolt on SSSA for the monster. It is a nice tubular SSS. I'm not sure if its 2v only, but I'm sure he can make one for the s4 no problems. Check out his web site: http://www.motomaxy.com/ A bit pricey, but it is super trick.

Hey Spezjag, thanks for the info. Cost and all the work might be why I've not seen any sssa monsters. jager, thanks for the site address. I'll check it out. While I'm here, anyone know how the Rhen Cullen TL1000R engine conversion works in the Ducati? Looks trick. He said he would'nt ship to USA due to complex instalation.

an s4r one should go straight in, and you can get the bits that hold the footrests too and bilt them on. that or get some 748/916 cases and recase your engine. or get a complete engine and swingarm - 996 would be cool.
