Default Ohlins forks - Monster and MH900e ???

Hi all,

I have been searching for some ohlins forks for my MH900e and seem to be struggling.

I understand that the ones from 99/02 Monsters were the same?

Can anyone verify this, and if so does anyone who has a set in immaculate condition want to cash in???

Thanks
Dave

no Monsters ever came with Ohlins forks. your best bet would be to find a set of 851/888 SPS or Corsa forks. they would be Ohlins and the same size as a Monster or SS. they are rare and expensive.

Ohlins makes forks for monsters. Contact a sponsor such as motowheels. No one will be selling them used unless they part out a bike and I've never seen it.

I agree with Foggy....Besides, the new ones will have the redesigned bottoms that will accept either the conventional or radial brake caliper brackets!

you can make the ohlins forks fit any ducati with a new clamp and some machine work. we just mounted a set on a 800ss and an older 900sssp. pretty simple, just make the spacer you need. We have a hailwood at the shop right now so we could get all of the parts done so it would be a bolt on operation for you. we also have a few sets of the carbon dream ducati performance body work here right now. nice stuff.

One of the critical issues is the length of the forks, not just getting them to fit onto the bike.

The MH also has a polished top clamp which I would like to retain - with this constraint how much work would be required, what forks are you thinking of and rougthly what would the price be.

Thanks

i dont think you're going to have much luck retaining the original clamps (in particular the top) if you want to go to ohlins..........there would be no way to adjust them...

A few things you may want to know. You wont have the steering damper any more, and you have to have someone make you a new nut to secure the clamps together. Machineing the clamp to fit the Ohlins forks isnt advised, as there is not enough material left to safely operate the machine. Ducati doesnt make a tool to extract the stock stem nut, as the overall combination of holes is different from the 916 style, and the stem is skinny like the 900ss/Monster stems. After you gouge up the stock one, good luck getting a new one! and!! putting it on without marking the soft aluminium. I like the new stem nut in the pic above. Did Alex make that for you? Im suprised that he hasnt made a kit for the MHE yet, ALEX???
