Default Hmmm, which Monster for me??

So, the time has come for me to buy another Ducati (especially since my 748 is still in the fricken shop (since March).

And since my broken body won't be too happy on the Superbike for any real length of time. . . I am thinking of the Monster! Now, I've owned an ST4 '99, 900ss '99 and the 748 '98. The Monster sounds like just soooo much fun compared to the others.

My question is should I go for the new Testeretta engine or stay with the older Desmo. Not concerned at all about Water cooling. In fact, I like it over air cooling.

What say you?

Victor

Sounds like you already made up your mind. If you have to have the coolest, best bike then wait for the S4RS (especially since riding season around WA is coming to a halt). Otherwise a S4R would be a nice bike at a good price in the near future. Soon you may be able to buy a new one and put Ohlins on it for the price of the rumored S4RS.

Or if you like yellow and a S4 this might be good for you.

If money is important. A used S4 is the best bang for bucks. Good performance for the money. The difference to a S4R in standard or with slipons are almost zero. Fit ST4 headers and slipons and a PCIII or FIM ECU they are the same. If you want to do some proper tuning the S4R is a better start as it has 996 case, cylinders and heads. The looks are up to you.
I love my SPS cammed ST4 exhaused S4. I would not change it for a S4R. I could use a S4R or a ST4S engine as a good base for tuning for future updates.

Jocke.............

You know, after thinking it over I am going to go for the new S2R 1000. I think for a daily ride, I'll be happy with the reliable, fun, and more than ample dual spark liter engine. Also, the look of the dual side exhaust is growing on me. And if I am not mistaken, the wheels are the same as on my 748 (not that that is a critical item).

Heck, it's a lot cheaper!

Man, I love shopping for Ducs
