I have a Paul Smart. I swapped the fork bottoms out so that I can run radial mount four-piston four-pad calipers. The swap required changing wheels as well. While I was at it, I had them upgrade my fork internals with superstock parts and heavier springs. The improvent in handling and braking was phenomenal.

Here are some links to some pictures of the brakes/suspension.

I realized that the last post might not work for some viewers so I'll try to post some pics here.

Yes. That is MY bike in the large picture in the background. The Aprilia is a relatively recent acquisition. Very fun bike. Lots of RSV mods and a Tigcraft 80mm titanium pipe that is audacious. This picture is from The 15th Annual Seattle Concours d'Elegance. The Paul Smart brought home the 1st Place, Contemporary Motorcycle trophy. The picture in the background is an out take from the calendar shoot for the 2007 Desmo Northwest calendar. My bike was "Miss May."

The wheels are stock Monster wheels. Any Monster, STx, or SS wheels with 25mm axles will work on SCs. You just need a front axle and spacer from an SS.

The bleeder isn't as close as it looks. There's actually plenty of room. It's kind of an optical illusion making it look closer than it actually is.

If you want to run stock SC wheels, you might want to check on the Yahoo SportClassics forum, there is a guy named, Dave Wright who is using four pot calipers with stock wheels. I think he had the back of the calipers machined so that they would clear the stock wheels.

You could put some nice 4 pots, on there. They're cheap and readily available. Might have to play with the rotor offset a bit, but you wanted some lighter rotors with alloy carriers anyway right?

Dr. D - those radial calipers look STOUT! The 4 piston 2 pad calipers I'm running, along with brembo 19x20 master gives me plenty of braking power already. Hard to imagine the power of radial ones, wow. Stock springs actually were enough for me so only swapped valving in the forks.

The brakes are amazing. The power and the feel that they afford coupled with the improvement in the suspension allows me to truly use the brakes like a rheostat to set the exact corning speed that I want. It's totally confidence inspiring. I can trail brake deep into corners and feel like I know exactly what is going on between the front tire and the pavement. I love this upgrade. I'll be adding the radial pump master cylinders soon, probably this winter. I'm eager to feel what they add in terms of control and feel.

I upgraded to Brembo 4 piston 4 pad calipers and forged aluminum wheels. It shaved 13.5 lbs of unsprung weight and braking has improved in overall power and feel.
