Default Dual seat MH900e ???

Has anyone considered or tried to convest an MH900e to dual seats?

I was thinking of getting a spare rear seat section and cut a second seat into it - I think that you should be able to re-enforce the rear of the seat from where the exhaust bolts on. However, I was wondering if the rear frame could take the weight of my girlfriend too - about 55kg - on top of my 90kg.

Any idears????

Good morning Dave

I investigated the idea of making a biposta assembly including passenger pegs complete that would bolt on as an extra triangle for strength.

The standard frame at the back I don't believe would take the cantilevered weight of an extra person without bending.

The next biggest problem was then the spring size, my chickie is 52 kg and I am 72 kg but with both of us sitting on the bike with the tail section off we had very little rear wheel travel left, I wound the spring preload up then of course it was way to hard for one up and they are spring fairly heavily sprung from factory, maybe a different story with your Ohlins though.

We ended up deciding it would be easier to get another two up ride, choices are there and the H-TARD looks very nice IMO, we will see.

agree with andi on this one ... not a good idea to make a mh900e a biposto. if you want to ride two up, get another bike.

ciao,

if you want to ride two up buy a car. i cannot for the life of me see the appeal in ridign with a passenger. ruins everything that makes a bike fun. plus you're now responsible for another person's life.

Depends on the passenger; it all adds an extra dimension But I would never adapt the MH900e for 2-up riding. Get something havier, more rugged and solid. Did someone just say BMW? Maybe even R100R Classic?

Agree on the responsibility, but that's equally true in a car. This is a very sore and sad subject for me personally; follow this link to http://www.ducati.ms/forums/showpost...5&postcount=70 and you'll get the picture.

Hoswever, to be honest, it was technical guidance I was after, as opposed to a lecture on responsibilities and what is fun and or not! These are very subjective and go nowhere.

For instance I currently have a 999 that I use for taking my girlfriend on the back when I want to go for a cruise on a sunny day - personally we both find this fun, and as adults, we accept the risks. However, I live in the middle of Notting Hill in London where garages are scarce. The owner that I have been renting one from what's it back and I can't find another hence the 999 has to go for now as its will get stolen if left on the street (as well as ruined from the rain, careless parkers, etc.). By comparison the MH sits in my lounge and is not impacted.

See - its all down to personal choices and circumstances!

Andi, et la - thanks for the imput guys - perhaps its time for Katrina to get her own.

Cheers
Dave

999 with sidecar, or Sport1000 with sidecar?
I've seen a demo with a Honda Blackbird and a Hayabusa with sidecars on the track in Assen (Netherlands) doing 250 km/h, ca 156 mph. In the turns / curves, all 3 tires were smoking
