Default The GT 1000 has been released.

It's on the Ducati website now.

Looks to be the least sporty of all the Sport Classics. But I guess it will find an audience. Anyone on here planning on buying one?

I don't dislike the GT, but it is my least favorite of the Sport Classics.

Way more classic, than sport.

Technically, that's called a "handlebar" 'round these parts...

Definitely not planning on buying one. I think it's fairly, um, unattractive. If any of these bikes is seriously "missing" one of the rear shocks, it's this one.

Still saving up for my right rear shock.

Tom

It is ugly. Just the old Marketing department attempting to put a positive spin on another Pierre blunder. It doesn't look anything like the "classic" 750 GT or the 900 GTS. Forget the 860 that GG designed it was ugly too. Now for the Sport part. I don't see anything sport about the bike at all. IMHO it looks like a pure and simple "standard' or "naked" 1000, BUT priced at the typical Ducati $2000 over. I think it will tank. Ducati should remember the success they had in the mid 90's when they cut prices and increased sales dramatically. But the latest out of Bologna is that the "relaunch" of the company and new business plan will focus on the high end of the market. More Minoli speak I guess. Probably means prices will be heading up again. Hold on to your wallets boys, I guess my 7 year old SS is looking better and better each day.

Do you think the Sport 1000 and PS are blunders too?

Same here. But ....... the GT has great cafe-racer potential. Ditch the tank, seat and sub-frame and replace them by "more period correct" versions. I can see this one with a long, sleek aluminum tank, single seat with hump a la mid-70's 750/900 SS and Conti-style mufflers

The GT is by far my least favorite of the Sport Classics. All of the SC's are overpriced based on the performance, and even relatively speaking within Ducati's lineup. Why is a Sport1000 20% more than a S2R1000 monster?

Granted, you cannot buy an original Paul Smart 750SS. But you certainly can have a bevel drive original for about the prices of the Sport 1000 and 1000GT. A new bike with modern electronics and reliable engine would be selling points, but these things are toys. If I had one it would just be for Sunday rides (by myself, 2 of the 3 are mono only ). I thought the value of the MH900e would tank by now, but I've been wrong about that bike.

I guess what I am trying to say is that for $10k I would rather find a nice 1973 750GT rather than this one.

However, I do like that Ducati is at least trying to leverage off of their past great bikes. There are several more that could be candidates for the SportClassics like the 1976 900SS or 1985 F1. Maybe in a few years they will make an 851 with the testaretta motor. That would be my dream bike.

What a fool I've been.

All this time, I thought I liked the way my Sport looked.

And I also foolishly believed that I have a lot of fun riding it.

But thanks to you guys, I realize I paid way too much for a bike that I'm not supposed to enjoy. I've realized that the silly grin I get on my face when I come back from a ride is just a mask, hiding my disgust that Ducati made me buy a bike that I shouldn't have wanted because it isn't practical, sexy, or economical.

What shall I do now???

sell it. that's what i'm going to do with my Sport. I thought I got a really good deal too (partly because everyone that looks at it thinks it cost twice as much as I paid for it) but apparently I overpaid too. oh well, i thought i liked mine also.
