Default Is the First 1000km Service Covered Under Warranty?

Is the first 1,000km warranty covered under Ducati's Warranty for the new Sport 1000s? In other words, will I have to pay anything, and what exactly is done?

There are some who believe that your 1000km service is required to keep up your warranty. But it's not paid for. My bike is at the dealer today getting it's first service, which is estimated between $350 and $425.

Just had mine done and it was $240. The service manager said they looked everything over, tightened up the belts, re-bled the brakes (squishy front), cleaned, adjusted and lubed the chain, and then the clincher, they WASHED the whole bike! I like my dealers service dept. Kinda makes up for their crappy parts dept.

I got mine done yesterday at Del Amo Motorsports in L.A. Here's what they did:

3.5 qts Motul oil, 1 oil filter, 1 gasket, 1 washer, 1 brake cleaner, 1 chain clean, 1 chain lube. Parts subtotal: $53.35. Labor included: clean air filter, check spark plugs, check/adjust cam belt tension, replace oil/filter, top off all fluids, clean/lube/adjust chain, torque all critical fasteners, check tire pressure, adjust/lube cables, inspect bearings, inspect electrical fittings/connectors.
Labor subtotal: $315.

My PS1000 had about the same list of parts and labor and cost $270. Seems like that's the average. I checked the belts after they adjusted them. They seem really tight to me. Can anyone link me to any hints on how to check belt tension?

Good shops use a Ducati tool that allows them to measure the frequency at which the belt vibrates after it has been plucked.
