Anyone looking for a Paul Smart? I stumbled into one in my travels at Battley Cycles in Gaithersburg, MD. USA. They actually have two, though I believe there's only one for sale. Brand Schpankin' New Too... -Capt.

So why are there so many still for sale, I thought most of them were presold.
Funny, I was just at the local Duc dealer scheduling my 600 mile maintanance, and the dealer happened to mention he has one in the warehouse that he just received that's unsold. And this isn't Battley in MD. This is a central PA dealer!!!
According to him (he's reliable and is the owner too) Ducati "hung on" to a few of the Smart's for new upstart dealers, etc. They're now releasing the remaining units not ordered from "new" dealers, to dealers requesting an additional PS bikes.

Don't get me started on this one, I might use some language that my Mom would definitely not approve ...... Same happened with the MH900e: I couldn't get one through the reservation process and ended up paying top $$$ at a dealer (who happened to have 4) I hope that all people who buy bikes, cars, etc. as an investment or in hpes of some quick cahs, get burnt big time. These things are meant to be ridden / driven and enjoyed by people who love them. Not put in storage, in musea or sold to before mentioned afficionado's at a substantial mark-up.

100% agree, they are motorcycles...an investment in fun.
No problem with the dealer making his living but these buggas who openly fleece others and deny them of a bike at the right price need shooting.
You know, I just get the feeling that there are going to be a few of them around for awhile. The season is just starting, but my initial impression is that the bikes are overpriced for what you get. When they start discount them in late summer you'll see them go. SC's are overpriced by about $2000.
The right price is what someone is willing to pay. I suspect Ducati has them priced about right for the intended market and production rate. A Lower price tag makes them the same price as the bread and butter line of bikes, so they would not sell them and have to build many more SCs and then what is the point for them to just replace one price point line with a new line same price points?
That is the same reasoning behind auto makers having special edition cars with features only available on that line. They know a percentage of buyers will pay more for something special and different than the cookie cutter model.
Have to agree with you to a point the but the nicer cookies sure have to be a cut above the rest of the ordinary cookies or the ordinary cookies becomes more attractive, my thoughts are the price difference and offering doesn't quite justify the nicer cookies in this case when there appears to be little icing to make it yummier!K, I am hungry now
I did a Cycle Trader search on Ducati - Paul Smart - Nation Wide and came up with at least 15 hits that appear to be all from dealers and are all new...
Nothing on ebay except a Termi 2 -into- 1 system with 300 miles on it.
Might want to check this out......

ExImport in Houston have two Yellow Sports at $11,995 and one Smart at $14,995 on the showroom floor. I think I'm going to re-take marketing 1.0.1 cause they seem to know something that I have missed somewhere sometime.
Modesto Ducati has 1! Just got in last week from another dealer.. Can't recommend them highly enough for purchasing your next bike from!! They won't even think about a mark up!!
