Default People Call Me A Short Ass

...and now with good reason, I was doing some grinding in the shed on the weekend next to Hailey and the grinder slipped and cut off both sides of my exhaust by 75 mm

Lucky I managed to contain it and it did not go any further

I repacked them tight with fibreglass, they are quieter now than what they were before.

Quite a bit more canitlevered weight has gone which helps reduce the "flapping" of the exhaust which causes all the cracking problems.

That's an almost radical approach. Looks good, though. Are you keeping Hailey after all?

Yes, she has been thrust back to # 1 by default after the Monsta burnt to the ground.

There are however a few changes in the wind......

Andi -- so what exactly is "My Hybrid 9evo" stand for? A MH900 hyrid that is evil?

yeap -- I decided to fix all the things on the MH900 that don't work, I don't like, or I think I could make look better.

Thus I'm rebuilding the bike and thus the new name...

I am working on a bigger fuel tank as discussed way back with the MH forum boys and should have the prototype finished tomorrow night.

Keep ya posted on progress.

Did you remove the stock fuel tank and remove the airbox also? I know Chris / CA-Cycleworks was talking awhile ago of creating one that fits in the stock location using pod filters with a larger fuel capacity. (I think it was posted on the MH forum also?)

How much more fuel capacity are you trying to add?

Heya superleggera

I already have pods and stacks on the MH, I was gonna build a bigger tank a while ago but with all the problems I decided against it.

Now having the bike as # 1 again I am into it, I will have around 15.5 L and yes it does fit in the stock location ..... there aren't many other places to put a fuel tank

So far so good, there are a couple of other minor changes in the wind too which should sort out some gremlins.

No problem john, I have few photos now, the exhaust of corse was the biggy and that came up great, we have the 25th annual Brass Monkey rally in two weekends time so I will finish it up after that.

I have some coloured brake lines etc, should look quite cool.

excellent ... and on the story to go with the photos, spare no expense on relating all the issues, and how it all is getting resolved (a happy ending, of sorts).

I can't tell it EXACTLY the way it is or I will still have to put in the F word....and that is not just for frustration either.

Anyway, I will give a full report, won't take much really but I am looking for an aftermarket speedo/tacho to replace the MH one, preferably one that will do the distance, then I can keep the original in a safe dry box for later, if you have any leads on something would be cool.

So what else are you fixing Andi? Fuel capacity problem is one. Gauge cluster for another. Rear exhaust overhang breaking things problem. What else on these needs fixing? (note: if you want, I could always do some concept images and turn the MH900e into something lowered and stretched out... I have no problems in doing that!)

Heya Mark

This is the list of failures to work with, various items are already done

5 Speedo failures New type of Speedo coming
1 Broken Exhaust Exhaust shortened to reduce cantilever
1 Broken X Bracket Everything shortened to reduce cantilever
3 Failed Batteries New Batterys of different breed installed
Engine removed to do the valves Fixed by Ducati, all is well now
ECU to lean Power Commander fitted
Black Chrome came off head pipes Have got a new set of pipes
Headlight surround flaking and lost coating Have got a new headlight surround
Black buttons on Cylinder head melted causing staining of fins Hooked every one of the little bastards out that I could get to
Gear linkage bar broken Have to fix that
Rear Shock Absorber Bolts moving and slogging swingarm Dunno what to do there
Front Brake Master Cyl tank leak Have new front brake tank on
3 x Blown Steering Dampers Have bought an M Toby damper
Six taillight bulbs Bloody things, think vibration related, reduced the back end cantilever so this should help
Two taillight screws Replaced with SS bolts with nylock nuts
2 x Top Triple clamp needing replacement from brake cylinder tank failure Been replaced and will be anodised
Exhaust support bolt broke off Bought new ones
Toolbox Rubber plug replacement Bought a few spare ones
Horn Stuck On With ignition On Buggered if I know, pulled it apart and fixed it

Apart from that she is bone stock standard , do you think I should do anything else while I am at it?

Maybe this

I was joking about the slammed and lowered idea! (Let me play tonight -- I think I have a good idea though for one)

Here is something I did awhile back for a concept. MH900 meets proper Supersport styling:

Now that is cool, a great deviation on a MH900e, needs a few wee tickles and it would rock

Ok -- not a practical idea really -- but what if Ducati had built a Hyabusa-style of bike with a full fairing with a derivative of the MH900e's bodystyle instead? (of course this would be the customized version!)

No wonder that guy paid me good money for my theft recovery MH900e -- he probably was afraid I would actually build something like this!

I think I might still come up with another MH900-based image -- this is fun!

Andi -- what do I need to do to motivate you to slice & dice that MH900e of yours? (stock is rather boring...)

Gimme 40 grand and I will do what you want me to do

I just need a push in the right diection to correct all the bads that plague MH900e's, the dash/tacho/speedo is the biggest problem thu far, I want something white faced preferably tach and speedo in one but I cant seem to find one that I do't have to sell the for.

Street and competition have nice ones but they don't keep an overall milage whichI want so I am back to the drawing board.
