Default Options for rear brake, minus sump cover

anyone running without the sump cover?

i'm looking for the best option for attaching the rear brake pedal with the sump cover removed (in stock form, the brake pedal threads directly into the sump cover, not the engine block).

ideally, i'd like to keep the stock brake/linkage.

any suggestions? thanks.

I dumped
the sump
cover the
1st time I had to do an oil change.

Made spacers to take up the slack in the motor mt bolts.

Modified a bolt and made a bushing to use stock rear brake setup.

Hi Speedbagger,
I have addressed the exact same question on the Ducati_MH900e forum on Yahoo (see messages 255, 279 and 280). The short of it all is below; hope this is helpful and clear. Goodluck, Ron

I have removed the sump on #225 almost 2 years ago. Spacers for the sidestand is pretty trivial: I have bought shorter bolts and mounted with 2 x 2 washers. New bolts are stainless steel; I don't recall the length anymore, but if you really want me to, I will take them out and measure them. Mounting the rear-brake pedal is even easier: buy one (1) shorter bolt and mount. The stepped thru-bolt simply fits. This approach moves the whole assembly just a little inwards, but that's absolutely no problem when riding. I have uploaded a picture of the brake pedal (and surroundings; taken while installing the open clutch- and belt-covers) on this Yahoo-site.

This is about permanent sump removal. have not seen any posts on this. It requires spacers to move the sidestand out on the left (easy), but what to do about the stepped thru-bolt for the rear brake pedal? Anybody know how it is done on the SS1000DS? Thanks Bob #1415
