Default Fork Oil Weight?

I have looked through my books and service manual but can't find out the fork oil weight for the MH.

Does anyone know off hand and where this info can be obtained, I want to find out about using a lighter weight oil to reduce the damping as from factory they are as hard as hell.

The MH forks are NON adjustable hence I am looking for 900 SS forks so in between time I though I would see if I can make them plusher.

Thanks all, any input would be welcomed!

ciao andi -

you can either measure it by length (measure how far from the opening to the top of the oil when you first open up the fork), or by volume (pour the oil into a graduated measuring container).

i just had a few moments to consult the factory workshop manual, and it states recommended oil weight as 7.5, so going to 5w should make it a little softer. also, the manual states capacity of oil as 531 +/- 2.5 cc, and oil level as 108 mm from top.

ciao,
johnc
