Temps are warming at 8800ft. Local surface conditions are improving. Still cool and sandy but better than icy and very sandy. Break-in continues, perhaps timing the first service in a few weeks with the arrival of the race ecu so the race exhaust, traction control, etc. can be fitted.
Cannot add much to the abundance of reviews of the R but can note the bike takes one through the same circuits at seemingly higher speeds without fuss or even awareness. I'll look down at the speedo and see I'm 5-10mph faster than typical through the same sections previously, yet it doesn't seem things are hectic but rather sedate. It's an animal, but well trained. Very noticeable is its light weight and responsiveness. It seems to telepathically execute what you're thinking. For sure maybe this is just in my head, but then again, it probably doesn't matter whether it is or not.

Playing with image settings here. FWIW, in the distance is a portion of the monstrous 2002 Hayman wildfire charring 130,000 acres. At this location the fire was so hot the road caught on fire and was resurfaced.
Awesome pix with an awesome bike! Congrats! Where in Colorado are you? Which roads are those? I have a place in Boulder that I go to a couple of times a year, and know all the roads around there, but don't recognize where you were at.
in the last pic, what happened to the trees? they are all dead?
Yes, toasted. First pic, see the snow on the peak in the foreground? See where there's trees and no trees? Same forest fire. Started by a forest service worker, burning a letter in a campground from her husband whom she was divorcing. Thought she could get a small fire going, sound the alarm, be a hero.

Please tell!
993... two of the images are from Jefferson County 126 above Buffao Creek. The other two are from Hwy 67 NW of Woodland Park. One can easily connect both locations above into one ride.
Hows the gravel situation else where up there? Had a chance to scope out the animal creeks around evergreen, or coal creek, peak to peak, or st. vrain up north?

From reconnaisance the past month...
Deer Creek Canyon - excellent
Bear Creek Canyon - excellent from Morrison to Idledale. Mag Chloride powder between Idledale and Kittredge
Golden Gate Canyon - marginal down low, sandy up high
I read a post on PNWriders that after 28 miles, a guy's R had a cam belt break and they found a timing cam in the engine case and resulting bent valves...
