Default My R

You asked for them. Well here they are. I uploaded some pictures of the 2004 749R that Irene and I bought yesterday.

The only modern Ducati I even thought about purchasing. Congrats on a fine machine.

I sorta agree, although I can't fully since I bought a 996 last month. But if I had the cash, I would love to have that bike. My dealer has one that I look at a little too much. The MV AGO just edges it out for me, though, for ultimate bike I can semi afford.

Oh yeah, that's it's sole purpose in life. I wasn't planning on racing a Ducati, but the price was right and I figured that I would have more fun on it than an '06 GSX-R750 which is the bike I was probably going to get. I'm not sure if I got the right bike yet, but the 996 IS fun to ride.

I've ridden a 749R and it would make a great race bike, but not in supersport. I think you'd want to pump it up a little and race it in superbike classes. It would probably do decently.

Congrats Martin!

Now if it's gonna be a trackbike, how about this:

Quote:
Ducati 749R Racing Plus Kit now available
Ducati UK Ltd is pleased to announce the availability of the 749R ' Racing Plus' kit which is now available to order through all UK Ducati Stores and dealers.

The kit which will increase the power of a standard 749R ( 117bhp in standard form) by 16%, has been developed by Ducati Corse with current World Supersport rider Lorenzo Lanzi.

Parts included consist of cylinder heads with optimised channels, new camshafts, a complete 57mm exhaust system with a titanium silencer, electronic control unit with special mapping, intake funnels and a high performance air filter.

The kit will enable 749R customers to experience the type of technology that only official Ducati Corse riders normally get to appreciate.

The suggested retail price of this special kit is £4,700 + VAT.

This price does not include fitment and must be fitted by an authorised Ducati dealer to continue a machines remaining warranty. Kit not intended for public highway. Image available.

The 749R is the fastest bike in its class. It wins the races here. It doesn't belong in Superbike... that would be for the 999r.

I'm pretty sure Andy meant Middleweight Superbike, where it competes with I-4 600s.

No racing in my future. Just street and as many trackdays as I can fit into my schedule.

Ed, that kit is a DP accessory. In the US it costs about $7500, so I'll be skipping that one. I am definitely going to be getting an ARC exhaust for it.

The previous owner was a fellow DESMOite that shall remain nameless. He sold it to me so that he could buy a S4RS. He did keep it in his living room though. It is almost spotless, except for a few little things. 2500 miles on it.

Track bodywork is a must as far as I am concerned. I'm either going to get Sharkskinz or Sebimoto, whatever Aldrin will hook me up with.

Thanks again everyone.
