Smile Turbocharged HyperMotard Project

I'm moving forward with turbocharging my HyperMotard. I'll be using an Aerocharger 53 Series Turbo and RapidBike Electronics.

My plan was for the turbo bracket/intake pipes to be a direct replacement for the CAT only. Unfortunitly it wasn't possible. It was about 3/4" off. So the lower horizontal head pipe will need to be modified.

I'll be using the stock mid pipe with the flapper valve removed. I'll also be using the stock slip-ons (cored to reduce back pressure).

I finalized the design of the new air-box and sent the drawing s out to be water-jet cut. I have a set of velocity stacks on order and well as a few other items I need to complete this part of the project.

I hope to get the electronics order this week...

Shift-Tech's HyperMotard Bayliss Edition has 130Hp ($9.4K in engine work), so my goal now is to make at least 131Hp.

All the hardware is complete now. The mockup turbo has been shipped back. The real aerocharge should be here soon. The electronics are also "in the mail"...

The exhaust and the air box will both be ceramic coated black once I get the electronics installed and hook up the MAP sensor.

Hoping to be done by the end of the month...

What kind of EMS will you be running? I'm interested to see it come together as well.

Project almost done. There's been a few delays...

I currently setting up the RapidBike Mod 3 system with an integrated MAP sensor. The "RapidBike 3" allows for the adjustment of fuel and timing, which will be based on the manifold pressure.

Mechanical work complete! The bike is all back together and I delivered it to "Tom's Italian Tune & Service" for helping tuning it.

The RapidBike system seam to be a little problematic. Hopefully we can figure it out soon...

Why Turbo a Hyper? Even if you gain 10 Hp what will that do? Are you drag racing it? Is it too slow for you? Some pistons, cams, and tuning can get you to 110-120 hp. I would never have the balls to cut up a new bike like that. Good luck and be careful.........
