Default DP air box lid installation ...

ciao a tutti -

just spent the past 30 minutes wrestling with removing the stock air box lid, and swapping it out with the ducati performance lid that mio aimco from ducati factory brought over for me last week while he was at miller for the desmosedici rr press soft launch.

man, next time i am at the factory, i am going to kick the engineer who designed the air box/fuel tank area on the hypertard, right in the nuts.

removing the air box lid to do a simple task like replacing the air filter ... it's like watching a monkey f***ing a football, and your the monkey. you need to be; triple jointed, have eyes in your fingertips, and the patience of a saint ... none of which i possess. as such, there are multiple holes in my garage now, from flying ratchet wrenches ;-)

anyway, according to ducati press mechanics, the DP air box lid alone is worth a 3hp gain in performance.

next project ... slip-ons (remus has a set coming out next week, as does zard @ the milano motorcycle show next month), or perhaps the full termi system.

ciao,
johnc

John, let us know when that Remus system is released.... I have the Remus Ti ovals on my SS and they IMO are the best sounding pipes I've ever heard.

Removing the rear fuel tank mounting bolt and battery cables make it a little easier. Still a pain in the ass.
