Default Seat and handlebar riding position?

Hi all, I'm new to this board and I have a few questions about the HM. I just discovered the HM about 2 weeks ago and have been learning all I can about the bike.

I am 5'8" and for anyone who is close to my height what is the riding position like? What I mean is how far do you lean forward to reach the bars? It's kind of hard by looking at pictures but it looks like the bars are low but not too far from the seat. My Ducati dealer won't be getting another HM until November but I'm trying to find out as much as I can from people who have seat time on the HM. I have ridden the Multistrada and that is a very nice ride, no problem reaching the bars and its a nice riding position.

Whatever bike I end up buying its purpose is for general running around town, going for rides, just a fun bike. For me going 50 to 100 miles is as far as I would take the bike from home. What I don't want to have is a lot of weight on my wrists and arms when I'm riding as that takes the fun out of it.

So if anyone can give me their riding impressions with the HM I would really like to hear from you guys.

Thanks

I am 5'7" and it was no problem to me, very relaxed and easy position, quite upright riding position.

Not as upright as the Multi but a heap more fun.

You won't get sore wrists from these I will tell you that for a fact, the most you will get is a sore bum from riding too long and sore cheeks from grinning!

5'7" 30" inseam here, bike fits perfect. No leaning forward involved at all, ergos are the same as most dirt bikes in fact I'd liken it to an XL650L for the ergos. The S model has an adjustable rear link, if you have less than a 32" inseam and get a standard I'd sugest ordering the adjustable link from the DP catalog... with the link wound in it drops the seat height a bit which is nice in town.... it's still a one cheek slid over the edge of the seat, 1 foot on the ground thing or on the balls of your feet if you put both down for us short guys.... actually about the same as the MS is. BTW where are you located? some one may know of one available at a dealer in your area.

Thanks for the input guys. The bikes that interest me so far and I have ridden have been the Multistrada, KTM Super Duke and a Buell. There is one other bike that I might take a look at which is the Triumph Tiger. But the looks of the HM is whats holding me back from buying anything until I can sit on it and then make up my mind.

What I want in a bike is something that isn't heavy; just want to throw my leg over it and ride, thats why I'm looking at these v twins; all though the Triumph Tiger is a 3 cylinder. I am 51 and I still like bikes; as I grew up on them since I was 12. I am really hoping the HM is comfertable enough to go riding.

06800SS - When I rode the Multistrada I could get the balls of my feet on the ground if that is how the HM is then I see no problem with the bike being too tall. If the seating position is close to what I'm looking for I could try bar risers to get even more of a up right riding position. Has anyone used bar riser on this bike yet? I live in Wisconsin and there is only one Ducati dealer in the state, I'm lucky though the dealership is only about 20 miles away The sales guy said they were getting another HM in November so I will be going back then to check it out.

Thanks again for your help.
