The MH900e did 147 km (92 miles) on 8.1 litre tank so theoretically you should get 250 km (150miles) plus or likely minus for the bigger motor,

Skunky little fuel tank again

i was about to take the plunge on a monster because my wife wants to tag along on some rides. as a follow up would anyone know if the pillion would be comparable to the monster?

ive been putting off my purchase for the longest time. slowly inching my way for the go sign from the wifey. now that shes given the go this hypermotard is making me think. darn you xaus. good vid of him on the track.

also there is a thread on the msrp any news on the price? i hope by the time this thing gets out i still have the go signal.

MSRP for the base model is $11,495, the S model is $13,995.

Hard to say what the pillion is like, but from the pictures it seem fairly comparable to the Monster line, maybe even a little roomier. We'll know soon. Right before I ditch the passenger pegs on mine, I'll take a quick two-up ride and let you know how she likes it on the back...

Lots of pics and details at Ducati.com...

az scott,

yeah tell me how it is but im swinging in the favor of the hypermotard now. anyway if the wifey finds it uncomfortable then thats when ill head back to the monster. i hope i can convince the wifey to stick with the motard though.

what are the main differences with the S and the base model anyway?

Seat looks real nice and wide on the HM and the seat step is no existant so theoretically is should be pretty comfy

Main difference between them is monoblock Radials to the front, lighter rims, upgraded Marzochi forks, Ohlins rear and maybe a pipe if you are REAL lucky....but not likely.

S Bike weighs 2 kg less as well, that sums it up, you could not buy all those goodies post purchase for that sort of coin.

I would guess you are little harder on the gas with the HM but on the other hand- 100mls of pure fun sound just good enough for me.

When is it coming out, you ask? My Duc dealer says he'll have one on June 30 for demos, and a dealer open house. The bikes are allegedly going to be delivered beginning July. However, I don't necessarily believe them (the last time I bought a new Duc from them, it was over a month later than what the dealer told me) and, honestly, I don't think the dealer knows.

I had a chance to go to an early press/premier of the release of the HyperMotard at the Beverly Center on Sunday. When the pulled the cover to expose the bike, I fell in love on the spot.

Later I had a chance to sit on it and got the wife to sit side sadle on it and she liked it(she was wearing a long skirt at the time). She has been on my 998 a monster and a Multistrada and she said this was the best one yet. Based on that she gave me a very early green light to get it (it always turns to red when I lay down the deposit... ). The controls are very nice...I'm really going to work hard to get one of these.
