Question Super Duke Effect

How will the fact the Super Duke beat the Hypermotard to the sales floor effect Hypermotard sales?

How will the Hypermotard's numbers compare.

I know that I for one was seriously concidering the HM, but the new KTM has my attention.

This video was posted on the "Super Duke Envy" post on the Steet and Track forum. I think it speaks for itself.

Saweet vid man thanks!!

I still prefer the aesthetics of the HM but don't want the reliablity issues that I have been having.

We need,

-Italians to aesthetically design it and pen it out.

-Poms/Germans to mechanically design and engineer it.

-Japs to build THE WHOLE THING PROPERLY.

The Poms and the Italians shouldn't be allowed any machine or tools

Saw the new Hypermotard in the flesh yesterday. That thing is impressive looking. If you don't like the looks of that bike there is something wrong with you. I think they will sell quick.

I have only seen them in the pics thus far, best pic thread so far is Gratuitous Hypermotard Sexy pictures - Forums

Would love to see one in person however NZ is generally the last in line for all the new goodies.

Default Super Duke

Still guys, are any of you having second thoughts about the HM because of the SD being released first?

I still havn't seen either in person, I just get the feeling from the stats the SD has put out so far that it is going to stomp the HM, and I believe the potential buyers are from the same pool.

I am a loyal Ducatisti, but damn, the KTM looks saweet. And I was in on the HM.

Question

Put it another way; where does the Hypermotard beat the Super Duke, understanding that we really don't know for sure yet, but what do y'all think?

PS: some of the pictures on the above link make me question the design asthetic argument.

Aesthetically my preference is the HM, have not riden or even seen one in the real yet so that is that.

The SD on the other hand I have ridden and fnck me they have stomp, Doons S4 with ST4s headers and PC111 etc would not get a look in for acceleration, my ST4s also woud be well shy that is for sure.

The SD does not tickle my lust buds as the HM does but the HM won't feature now due to x 2 Ducati factory fnckups that I have had to cover and now possibly a thrid, time will tell.

There is always gonna be a contingent of new comers to Ducati who get sucked by passion and Ducati's ability to crawl into peoples sense of lustfullness in Ducati's is quite incredible.

We are going to get a new bike soon but I don't think the HM will get a look based on history ... at least for me anyway.

Well, the KTM is liquid cooled, which means it will make more horsepower - if that's really an issue on a bike like this, which I don't think it is. The 950 Supermoto is probably more of a direct competitor to the HM.

In any case, I think the Ducati is way better looking than the KTM (which isn't surprising, because I have yet to see any KTM that I think is aesthetically pleasing to my eye). And I've had a sour taste in my mouth about KTM ever since I saw Long Way 'Round.

So obviously, I'm keeping my place in line at the Ducati dealership!

To be fair it's an apples to oranges comparo, look at the thread I started about the 1100DS motor that powers the duc, for me it was down to these 2 bikes.
I already knew the power and performance would go to the SD, but I was still intrigued by the HM, in the end the SD proved to be way more formidable than I had even imagined, and now I've come to realize that it's a true naked superbike, but unlike any thats ever been built before.
The compactness and superlight weight give it a totally different riding dynamic to anything else.
The SD is a true anomaly, that will become common knowledge over the next 6 months or so.

I don't think there is a comparison. They are completely different except that they are both considered mega motards.

LONG LIVE THE HM!

Oh and your dealer will have an open house on June 29 and 30 with a demo there! (If you're dealer is any good)

LOL, my comment only applies to us 'Mericans! You should just order a bike from the states or Europe and be the first to have one

An S is $13,995 USD or $18,748 NZD What is your import duty?

From what I can see it has increased the HM sales, I just sold my SuperDuke and bought a HM

I agree, but there are exceptions.

I guess having the SD was kind of like shitting where you eat right?
But all will be forgiven once you start posting pics of your fully kitted out HMS right?
These bikes dont warrant any comparison at all, really.

Considered that, got bitten pretty hard with the MH900e tho so bit gun shy.

No import duty on motorcycles, the S would work out pretty much the same money, seems as thos they may be coming as soon as September or so, we won't be doing anything until we get this ****in ST0s finished with.

Interesting but Super Duke and the HM are not really the same type of bike are they? The SD would appear to more closely match the Monster S4r(s) then the HM. Unless Ducati produces a HM Rs.

The KTM 950 SuperMoto would be more of a comparison.

Oh...and I love being a two months late to this discussion.
Monstaman you have not had much fun with Ducati...well at least with the MH, so I can't fault you saying that. In someways Ducati is a lot better than they were even a few years ago, though customer service (SPA) is much the same from what I've read. Well see if the new managment can fix that one.
