I think he means the big sump extension, that the pre Testastretta engines had.

not since i worked on them a few times, mark at duckshop showed me a baffle system he used to make that helps stop slosh if thats what your trying to get around.

demontech:
The deep sump was introduced to the racing desmoquattros by Ducati Corse, because Mighty Carl did a lot of wheelies those days, thus preventing the oil pump suck in air.
As you mentioned, some tuners build in baffles.
I need the deep sump to complete my 996RS crankcase. It seems these racing parts are rare as hen's teeth nowadays

Default Magnesium sump....

these are extremely rare these days! you might see one on eBay from time to time but that's pure chance. you might also find older aluminium ones... another option which i have tried is to blank off the three holes in the base of the 996RS case and run it like that. It works.... saves weight... and doesn't effect performance

don't think this part is worth to make a mold.
As mentioned above I'll blank out the holes
and close the crankcase..
