Default Fs: 1996 900ss Cr

Sold.

1996 Ducati 900 SS CR, 22k miles. 998 front end (forks, wheel, disks, calipers, master cylinder, 0.85 RaceTech springs), CF front fender, Cycle Cat top triple clamp, Cycle Cat bars, Cycle Cat frame sliders, Evoluzione clutch slave cylinder, Staintunes, new Odyssey battery, Barnett clutch and basket, Sargent seat, Ohlins shock, Double bubble smoked screen, Diablos (put on 2k miles ago F&R), frame welded, K&N air filter EBC HH brake pads, $3000 save this from Ebay, I'd much rather sell it to someone here. If not, I'd appreciate any advice on the ad copy I intend to use: I am the second owner of this bike. It was completely stock when I bought it in May, 2000 after lusting after one for 10 years or so. It had 8500 miles on it when I bought it and had had the first service done. I added the modifications listed below as time and money permitted. I had a full service done at a dealer at 11,00 miles and have done my own service since then. I’ve only had to change one opener valve shim in that time. The bike has been very reliable – the only problem that ever stopped a ride was with an accessory clutch slave cylinder, since replaced. This is a great bike; comfortable enough for 250 mile back road days. I’m selling it because I don’t ride it much anymore. I can now afford a new bike and spend my time on it. I built this bike to be ridden, not to sit in my garage. I hope someone that will ride it buys it. You will see below that the frame has been welded. The CR version of this bike is known to develop cracks at the steering head. While Ducati did offer new frames for a while, they required it to be replaced by a dealer at a significant labor charge. Many people simply repair it by welding it. I checked with several Ducati specialists, who all said they would have their own bikes welded. I had the welding done by an independent motorcycle repair shop. I have had no problems since and the bike has done two track days at Barber in that time. I’ve been riding for 37 years and have owned BMW, BSA, Bultaco, Honda, Ducati (including a Monster 900), Montesa, Suzuki and Triumph motorcycles. I’ve always done most of my own work on them. I’ve included the service history for the last four years. I only started keeping service records on my bikes in the fall of 2004, but the bike was maintained on the same schedule prior to that. Lovely Duc. Wish I had some disposable income. I still miss my '96 & my '97. Good luck.

Default I pity you!!

After 3 months of trying to sell my 900, I gave up and parted it out..(3 bike sales, deadbeat buyers, 2 engine sales also deadbeats and finally a Pick-up sale that did a Paypal Dispute 36 hours after payment cleared..(before he picked it up!!) I finally got that cleared up except now I'm being held hostage for more parts and shipping for free with the threat of another dispute)..I guess folks are getting crappy with the economy. I can offer this ...If you write a full description, NO ONE will read it!..If you make it simple, they will tear it apart to find some way to screw you.. Good Luck!..Now that's out of the way..I can tell you that you will make more in parts then the sale of the whole bike..about $1,000.00-$1,5000 more..I hated stripping a beautiful 900 but what a guy gonna do..Just be real clear about your transaction or you will defintely be screwed..M..
