Default 2001 ducati 996 monoposto

Ok, Sadly I must part with 1 of my bikes. Since the 996 doesnt do as many things as my beemer the Duc has to go.
Any reasonable offer accepted.
This is a 01 996 with 9700+ miles Yellow. In great shape It is currently set up for Trackdays (did 6 this year but had only been street ridden prior.)
It has all parts needed to go back on the street.
This bike runs STRONG. Ask anyone who knows the bike (some are members here)
All work done on it was performed by the great folks over at AMS.

Bike has the following upgrades.
CF Front Fender
CF Front Number plate
CF tank/Key protector (1 piece runs the length of the tank)
CF Exhaust Heat Shield
CF rear brake line cover
SPS Cams Degree'd by AMS
54MM full Termi Ti race Exhaust
Pit bull Rear stand included
at 9k chain and both sprockets replaced with 520 conversion 15/40
Custom Dyno tuned chip for the bike done by AMS.
Have a second CF race tail complete with race pad seat and hinges and latches plus the original street Mono Posto Tail complete with all hinges latches and a Corbin Seat.
Bike was bought new by a friend in 02 and I have all service records, I am the second owner and she has had both 6 K service and then at 9k when I had AMS do the cams I had her given a complete 12k service so she has been very well serviced and cared for.
The bike has never been raced dropped wrecked bumped damaged or abused in any way over than normal wear and tear from use.
There are 2 very minor issues.
1.) the Side Stand Bracket (small bent piece of metal with 2 bolts thru it that attaches to the engine side case) is cracked. Hadnt bother to replace it as was slowly taking the bike more track only and was going to just remove the side stand.
2.) went to remove the Key from the ignition the other day and it didnt want to come out, I didnt want to force it out but am sure it can be coaxed out and prob just needs some lube in the switch.
thats it otherwise the bike is sharp.
Some members here saw her yesterday just ask I am sure they will comment.
Will have pictures up later today.

Why is it that the only people selling 996's and/or 916's live in places other than Florida?

I've only got about 7500 to spend without incurring the wrath of my wife, and shipping (or gas to pick it up) will easily make most of these bikes out of reach! Sellers need to move clsoer to me!

Beautiful bike BTW. I wish it were red, but the black tail makes the yellow a looker. I had a 00 748 in all yellow and always thought it was a little too much. This is sweet.

For the right bike...SHIP it.

I paid $500 to ship my bike from NH to Fla. Was the right move for me...

Used Forward Air...Almost bullet-proof container.

Just need a trustworthy seller...

Good Luck!

I haven't had much luck finding THE bike that I want, in Florida. Sure I can find tons of salvage bikes, and bikes that have what I'd call a "questionable history" as far as owners treating them right, but a nice 996 is hard to come by and a 916 is nearly impossible.

I may have located one but it depends on if the seller wants to deal or not. Unfortunately it's being sold on consignment so naturally the dealer wants his cut on top of what the seller wants. 10k miles, two small cracks although supposedly not through the fiberglass. One between headlights and one by rear vent on tail section. Other than that, sounds like a good bike. Wouldn't have to ship. I could drive to pick it up.

Funny nice 996's are hard to come by but everyone seems to think they should get one for 6-7K. I had a couple people ask and when told I would like to get as close to 9k as possible they never even returned with an offer. Heck a nice clean stock 996 is worth 8-9 let alone one like mine that has had 5k worth of top notch mods done without getting radical and hurting rideability or maint. schedules.

Luckily ,she is still for sale, but I am no longer as distressed in my business as I was so if no one wants to pay somewhere close to 9k for 14k worth of bike that is fine.

Guess my K1200S wont see track duty after all

I think that's because they're not really "competative" compared to current bikes. So to sell one and get it's "REAL value" out of it, you have to find someone who loves them and not your average buyer or rider.

Average selling price that I've found is about 7500. The one I'm looking at was owned by a mechanic (factory certified) with a FBF full system, Ti valves, CF goodies, chip, Marchesini wheels, etc and it's selling for less than 9. It's been sitting awhile, but again, when compared to a one y/o ZX10, most guys will opt for the Kawi.

dude, a ZX10R or a 916/996.

You gotta know what you want. If you want a high powered machine, compare the Kawasaki to a 999 (S/R), but not to a bike that is almost 10 years older (916).

Show me one ZX10 rider who gets that serious roundhouse smile after pushing the starter

You get what you pay for, if you want timeless beauty and a soundtrack of thunder, well, there´s only 1 way for you buddy! You can´t compare Japanese bikes to Ducatis.

Good Luck on your purchase, 7500.00 maybe realistic for a 916 or an older 996 but not for a great condition 2001 I'll keep mine for that kinda of low price.

BTW if its been sitting for awhile change the belts (better safe than sorry) and the Marchesini's were stock by 2001

Ben you're misunderstanding. All I'm saying is that most guys these days want the latest greatest bike out there. They're not intrested in spending 9 grand on a bike almost 5 years old when they can get a new 10R.

I'm not trying to compare the two, I'm just saying that the person willing to pay 9 grand for a Duc, wants a Duc. It's that simple. Personally I think 9 grand for a 2k1 996 is a fair price. It's not a steal, but it's fair. The person that buys it will most likely buy it for the love of the bike, not the spec sheet. I bought my R1 because in Fla. the roads are all straight. I wanted the 1000cc for the power when riding two up with the wife and heading to Daytona or something. The reason I bought it rather than a 10R was because it was more comfortable. I didn't need the fastest out there or the one with the best numbers.

Same reason I'm looking at the 916 or 996. I want it because that's the bike I want. I'm willing to spend 7-8 grand on it even when people tell me (or try to sell me) that I could get a year old Gixxer or 10R for that kinda money.

Karl. Like I said, you're asking a fair price. If it were mine and I were selling it, I'd ask the same. If I was willing to spend 9 grand and it was red, I'd probably be considering it. But the one I'm looking at is 2 years older and therefore more in line with what I want to spend.

Oh and although I don't know any 10R rider that gets that sh!t eating grin on his/her face when punching the starter, I do know several that get the Hershey squirts when getting too over zealous in a corner.

You're right. Nothing beats the sound of the Ducs. I think I still have the sound clip from my '00 748 on my computer somewhere. It should be a ringtone with Nextel.
