Reed's best Stewart immitation
Admittedly, I'm a huge Chad Reed hater, but this is hard for me to watch. Easy to see why he was spitting up blood after watching that mess. I can see why he got back on the bike though. He's GOTTA win this SX title or the boards will have have his head and Larry Brooks' head might explode defending his lover.

Damn? I found that by riding around the jumps, I'm faster and much safer so that's my solution.

Nah, there's quite a few people who have used that rule. Some riders were out of provisionals in the 1st half of the season. They can barely fill the gates as it stands with so many people hurt. The outdoors is going to look like an amateur race with the larger gates.

Funny, cuz that's exactly what my boss told me he'd do right after he fired me if I needed time off after wadding a bike. Hard to twist a throttle w/ thoughts of unemployment checks and government cheese going through your head.

Reed had such a large points lead with so few rounds, he could have cruised and still won the championship.
Windham has stuck around so many years, taking thirds and fourths as they came to him, now he will probably be SX champ. I don't really know how to think about it. On the one hand he will have the most points and winning a battle of attrition is still winning. On the other hand, Reed and Stewart are clearly faster riders. I bet a part of RC wishes he were still out there, he would have likely easily won this year and his NASCAR career isn't going so well.

Yeah, I agree. I don't blame them so much cuz it's not really their fault, but they aren't racing anyone. Reed's SX title was w/o Ricky, Langston's MX title was w/o Ricky/James/Reed and now Windham may backdoor into a title w/o James/Langston/Alessi/Tedesco/Pourcel/Townley........etc etc. Reed's BY FAR the fastest rider out there and if he punts this title away, it's gonna be the choke of all chokes IMO.

It would be in the same league as another great choke by his fellow countrymen Greg Norman at the Masters in '96. It should be noted that the Shark was never the same after that fateful Sunday, hopefully the same doesn't happen to Reed.

Windham won and Reed second in St. Louis. Unfortunately I wasn't able to go.
13 points and two rounds remaining.

The only place Reed matters is in his own little mind.

Yes, he certainly did by beating.........well.....no one? Both his titles were won when the best were out. Yeah Skippy! He's thought of as a joke on the boards and it just drives him and Larry nuts and I love it. Yes, he's the '08 SX Champion though, congrats Skippy! See ya outdoors! Wait, he won't be there. Don't want to race James outside?
OK, bitter Reed-hating rant over. Congrats to Chad Reed, the 2008 SX Champion! He raced whoever lined up against him and he's the Champ. Enjoy it! It's yours and you earned it!
Langston's already out for MX so there'll be a new Champion there too. Hopefully JBS can hold it together finally and not bail on the series cuz of his Monster vs Red Bull hatred. The amount of SX-only contracts and injured riders is really killing MX. SX was a bloodbath and I really hope those man enough to ride outdoors get healthy and stay healthy so we actually have something to watch. I don't think ANYONE will disagree that the Lites class will be and should be the premier Series this year. Can't wait to see RV, Canard, JLaw, Stroupe, Dungey, Grant and everyone else lined up. Gonna be exciting for sure!

I thought 2007 was Stewart's last year racing outdoors?
With RC, Reed, Bubba, and Langston out, this could be Windham's year.
In my perfect world I'd like to see RC or Stefan Everts come out of retirement and show them how its done.

KDub is SX-only. Last I heard, Stewie is still slated to run the outdoors. That was his "reason" for getting his knee fixed and tanking his SX season. Outside of Townley getting healthy and finding the groove he had in Lites, I don't really see any reason why Stewie can't have a perfect final season on the Kawi. I'm a huge JBS fan, but if he heads to a blue bike as rumored, I'll have to turn my back on him. Why can't Honda open their wallet? It all makes sense: Stewie on a Honda, plastered w/ Red Bull sponsorship (bike and gear), on the top step of the podium every week in a Monster-sponsored series. Sweet revenge!
Excerpt from a Windham interview in Jan:
Do you have a Supercross-only program this year?
Yeah, right now it’s a Supercross-only contract. It was weird, last year, I felt like at the end of a three race series I was like “I can’t keep up, I have to go sit on the couch I just can’t keep up. I can’t ride, I’m tired, I can’t keep up.” And that was a frustrating position to be in. I just felt really, really bad with where I was in life, so coming into this year, I have such a better focus of doing what I’m doing. It’s not the fact that I don’t like outdoors, I love them and I want to do them, but I couldn’t keep up last year. Now this year, they’ve tightened the series up to where now you have to do five in a row. I don’t know, I just couldn’t keep up and that was a miserable feeling. Now that I’ve eliminated that feeling, I just feel so much happier now. Instead of feeling like after Supercross, “Damn I’ve got to start outdoors.” Now, I’m feeling like after Supercross I’m going to be board, and I need to find something to do. I would love to put something together where I do a couple nationals, but I don’t think I can maintain doing it week in and week out.
I’m not a spring chicken; I’ve been doing this since 1994. I’m 30 years old now, and I know that there are guys out here that are older than me, but it was just hard to keep the focus and the drive all the way through. I feel like whenever the sponsors aren’t getting what they deserve, the fans aren’t getting what they deserve. I just feel like the Supercross-only contract is a way better deal. I just hope there’s not a lot of backlash for me not riding outdoors. I think people understand where I’m coming from. It’s not that I feel like outdoors don’t need to be there, I think that they’re wonderful and the building blocks for everything that you do with a motorcycle. Unfortunately, for me it got to be where it was just a little bit too much racing for me.
