Default The latest on my RM-Z450

I've added alot of things to it since dec. '06 It will flat rip in the woods but it is need of a serious re-valve, in time.

I just put the Yosh RS-2 pipe on tonight. Due to a very noisey stock pipe I had to put a cork in the noise so here it is. enjoy

Schweet dirty bike.

Congrats

I started MX stuff last year, went over the bars once at a SX-like track.

I love it but it's a bit ruff on the body.

Not fun when you're almost 40!

thanks,

almost 40 your a kid I am 44.

Factory Connection has the forks and rear shock right now doing a re-valve and re-spring for my weight and the woods type riding I do. It should be a sweet setup once I get it back together end of next week. I am into the GNCC type riding. I'm way too old and fragile to do any SX type riding with all the jumping required.

This bike kicks ass!

The RMZ handling is like a train on rails....I have an 05 CRF450 and my buddy "had" a RMZ (he busted his ass really badly at Waldo, Fl and sold it -hung up mx for good). The RMZ is/was a much better hadling bike and we both had Factory Connection.

I tried sum sandy Florida type woods/trails and I saw death in the face more than I did riding MX ....trees, branches, roots. Maybe with sum soil vice sand under the tire it would be better.

If you tried the trail riding with MX suspension I can see why you seen death so many times. The OEM MX stuff is way too stiff and the compression is way off, gotta soften things up alot to go fast in the woods. Here in Ms. we have roots, ruts, mud and sand but for the most part plenty of trees to hit. The RMZ is a good turning bike stock I just needed the suspension right for our terrain. Root deflections are no fun and will put you head 1st into the ground or a tree quicker than anything I know. Two of my riding friends have '05 CRF450's and both are really fast on them.

Anybody know if there are any similarities between the RMZ and the DRZ400?
Any engine similarities? Will the DRZ lump go in the RMZ frame? Suspension the same?
Was hoping to buy myself a DRZ but far prefer the look of the RMZ... and I'm guessing that the DRZ engine is far lower in its tuning spedc so will be more relaiable and less maintenance intensive?

No similarities in the DRZ400 and RMZ's. motor mounts are different. Front suspension will work if you swap the trees with the forks. Rear shock and swingarm are different, they are RM two stroke based. I owned two DRZ400's the RMZ will walk all over them wheter its a dirt only model or street model. The RMZ is not that bad an animal maintenance wise no different than any other racebike. The MX valving on a stock RMZ is brutal for woods riding a re-valve/re-spring is mandatory for woods use.

Get a RMZ you won't be sorry.
