Default got a CRF 150...

Kind of fell in my lap, but I'm thinking of some mini motard stuff. They run a few classes with the miniGP guys that it would be legal for. I think it would be a hoot. Anyone here mess with playbikes?...

Hell yes, I got half a dozen Honda 50's, and a CRF150F plated, and fitted with 17's. Mini bikes are a blast.

What width rims did you end up going with on the 150, and also what tire sizes? Also, have you made any motor mods? I'm thinking seriously about running this bike this upcomming season...

I run 2.5"x17" rim (90/80-17 tire) front and 3.5"x17" rim (110/80-17 tire) rear. I am running DOT tires, but for the track use 125 GP rubber. The bike is the wifes and I kept the motor stock except for the BBR rev limiter box, and jetting + remove the baffle and airbox snorkel. I did change the gearing for the street 14/45 I think.

Which 150 did you get, the R or F?

That is the jetting I am running. I also put in the power up kit which consists of a needle and needle seat. Wheels I got stock hubs from Service Honda and sent them to East Coast Wheels, they had a deal $500 rims and spokes, $50 to lace. Brakes I run a EBC oversised front brake disk. Some guys also run a fork brace. I also hear if you race the 150F hard the stock suspension (shock) causes highsides, from to much rebound. Go with a Works unit, as the stock shock has no adjustment, other than pre-load.

Ya, I have a Works shock on the way, and am trying to make a deal on a cr85 front end. I was looking at an xr 200 rear wheel, and the hub looks like the same unit as the 150. Since it is already a 17, I could get a 17 front for a cr80 little wheel, and just lace up both with some wider rims? That way, I could save my stockers to play on. Any thoughts?...

Sounds like the way to go. What year is the XR200, is it a R or L? It makes sense it would fit the 150F. Thats cool you may end up swapping front ends with a CR80R, all you need is a 80 front hub for the 17" wheel, then you will have both a dirt and street set ups. The stock forks can be made to work good, but the 80 forks can be made way better.

What kind of cam and piston are you getting?

Right now the 150F is set up for the dirt, my wife likes it but she want's something a little lighter and easier to start. I'm thinking CRF150R, but you need a green sticker aroud here to ride offroad on public lands, Honda needs to make a X version.

Here are my wheels.

nice wheels! I made a deal on the cr 80 front end, and he even threw in the custom bracket for running the crf front caliper, plus the whole front brake setup for the cr. The piston and cam are BBR, not what I would have prefered, but for the price, I could'nt pass it up. I also bought a 26mm Mikuni, and am planning on building a dual cone meg for the pipe. A freind of mine ordered the shock from Works, so I guess I'll have the suspension just about covered. He is also checking on some gold valves for the cr forks. The last thing I need is springs. Who's stuff would you go with?...

BBR knows mini bikes, I would use their product. I also believe Race Tech makes adjustable fork kits, which include the gold valve and allows external adjustability.

I guess at this poit, springs are what I need to research. Reger has some stuff for the cr85 forks, I guess I'll go with them. Wish there was someone else to compare notes with?...

Be careful with those 150F's. Read this on MotoTalk:

Cams might break. CRF150r vin range JH2KE033*7K000001 to JH2ke033*7K005279. CRF150RB vin range.JH2ke033*7k000001 to JH2KE033* to JH2ke033*005791. The parts are not availiable yet. Do not sell any of these machines. If I owned one I wouldn't ride it unntil Honda fixes it.

Seems there's an official bulletin from Honda on the 150 cams. Be careful!

Don't forget to order a 150 perimeter frame while you're on the phone with them. They sure are purty.

Frame sliders! BBR frames crash well, don't worry about it. You can just polish out any scratches.

I want to hear all about that mod. Im real close to dropping the dough to do it on my 150f motard. BTW: this is the most fun you can have on a motorcycle. Wonder if I could plate it here in florida? Anybody know off hand?

The recall is for the CRF150R, also Honda has a stop order on selling new "R" bikes.
I think the bike we are talking about it the CRF150F.
