Obviously not my desicion to make, but for all the people who reply "NO too political", my response is; THEN DON'T GO IN!............
(is it just me or isn't that kinda obvious......)
-Rocky-
PS. whatever the outcome, THANK YOU DAVE for keeping the board going!

With only a few months to go until the US election, now would be the perfect time. It might keep some of the ongoing fights between members out of the general bike stuff.

After all the mud slinging, crap shooting, low down, dirty, rotten and caustic vitriol...
I miss the lounge and I miss the efforts of my right wing contemporaries.
Were there issues?
YES... too much ad hominem
YES ... too much bs
YES... too much sometimes.
However, warts and all, the lounge gave us a meeting place(like the spot where two steam trains collide) and a place to LEARN! Thats right, learn. I was fuming a few times but mostly I was learning what the other half thinks, wants and believes. I also had my fair share of laughs. I didnt intend to go overboard so many times but I get pissed at racism, sexism elitism etc. I dont hold back insulting the insulters. But they mostly handled it like men and fought back to make their point or, point out the flaws in my points.
The lounge had a slithery underbelly and a morbid allure! At times I would say to myself out loud "No lounge today".. haha, rarely worked. I have thought a lot about the right's rights and the common ground. more than I ever did before my Speedzilla experience.
Who knows why people spend so much energy arguing and being contrary? It is what our great countries are based on(thank heavens) and our nature vary in ways only arguing could define. To take that forum away has never made sense to me. One might think the people who complained were forced or coerced into clicking on threads that were obviously hot and bothered, caustic and venomous.
It is ironic that, in this day and age of easy, rapid, comprehensive communications, we want talking to stop because of the off beat, flaming verbal fires surrounding the hot topics of today. WE CAN HANDLE IT! if you cant, stay away!
I suggest a separate Political Lounge(where people are just as free to stay out as they are to enter and blab on and on) link with flashing red and moving gifs everywhere and age verification and sensitivity alerts, you know like "may contain peanuts"!

Moderators might be the solution, but too many will shout (incorrectly) 'censorship'. Dave owns the board, right Dave? So, it's his choice.
The Lounge used to be awesome, with wit, humor, off motorcycle topic threads, and the like, but became political science forum and a war of political attrition, name calling and post longer than most cared to read.
Some of you guys could just start your own political/social issues messageboard based on your lounge topics. They're interesting enough, just too freakin' involved for most.

Back in the early time share days we use to have the ability to vote someone off the island. Since we do not have that feature here a moderator would be nice with the ability to remove a thread. It did get out of hand and will so again. The lounge is proof that we have intelligent life in this universe. I mean would you visit this planet after reading all the threads posted? I wouldn't.

There used to be a separate Politics/Religion lounge. It got shut down as well. Maybe we could go for a third strike?
I for one stopped viewing the lounge well before it got shut down, there was nothing of interest there, just the same vitriolic posters fighting their private wars.

I think a separate "mudslinging" forum would be good, with the lounge kept free of politics and just for the strange shit that falls in between all neat classification and isn't specifically motorcycle related.
I had a love/hate relationship with the lounge, but it was good, dirty, mud-wrestling fun, and it's nice to sound off with people who have at least a similar reference point.
Hey, we're all in this mess together !!
Then again, I now make use of the hours and hours of free-time that I have since I stopped hammering my keyboard to reply to Nero and SBurns !!
Speaking of which, howdy, chaps. Hope you're keeping well.
Hi Gog, hows that Canadian Springtime coming along ? Here it's just shitty rain, and, er, shitty rain...
Hello Rocky, gee, I actually agree with you about something.
Now all I need to do is agree with XFBO and my corruption to the Dark Side will be complete...

Hush! Shouldn't you be out making flimsy, milky pitted carbon trinkets? Or better yet, a resin/chemical-laden carbon spoon to shove in your poor, defenseless newborn's mouth?
