Default All the google ads :(

Hey Dave,

I got a question. Are your google ads that important that you let them destroy the whole forum layout?

Now they´re everywhere. The forum becomes unreadable. I have a really hard time of connecting the first post of a thread the following. The Ads are really distracting.

I found myself getting really annoyed and not reading the threads anymore, because of all the google stuff inbetween the threads.

Can you at least remove the google ads from within the threads, please?

Ben,

I understand your frustration but keep in mind that the site is free to you and I but not free in general.

Dave,

Just a thought, fireblades.org has a very nice concept. Free members see all of the Google ads but site contributors do not. Maybe the "site contributor" concept can also be easily incorporated here.

Also, another site I am on has a Paypal donation link so members can contribute freely. Where should I send my cash contribution for Speedzilla? I prefer Paypal if possible.

Thanks for the site!

Make your way over to the store & pick up a t-shirt or two, or maybe a trick new set of mirrors for your favorite ride: http://speedzilla.com/main.shtml

Ah, but the sales through the store do help support this message board!

Just take my money!

I am rather large, as in XXL and I didn't see any shirts that appealed to me in that size.

I'll take another look, thanks Gerg!

Sure the site is not free, but Google ads are not that paying in respect to the amount of annoyance they´re causing. Dave also has the banners on top.

I am also running a forum and a weblog. I tried the google ads and found out, that people were being annoyed by them. Hardly anyone is clicking the links and this is where you get the most money out of. Sure you get money for displaying them, but I doubt it´s that profitable.

I like the donation idea. Maybe it´s worth a though Dave?

Is it just me or are we getting a lot of Toyota ads in Spanish? I don't mind the google ads, but I have no freaking idea what the Spanish Toyota ads are saying.
Looks like I need to learn Spanish!!!

Many of the ads are based on your location.

Thewse arent that bad. Another site I was a regular on went to popup ads (set up to slip by blockers no less), banners at the top AND side (fine with me though) and the thing that pisses me off the most, redirect ads. Ya know the kind where you click on a post to read and instead of going to the post, it goes to a full page advert and tells you "you will be returned to the post in 15 sec".

Oh I forgot anther POS style of advert thats ulta annoying, intellitext hyperlinks. They pick certain words in a post and create hyperlinks so when you mouse over them, they have a little popup balst over the screen.

That site went from being very active to nearly dead. Even their open area which used to have 2 pages of posts a day, now has 10 day old posts still on page 1.

Yea but if they display enough ads eventually you will click on one by accident
