Default ontario insurance suggestions?

Whats co.'s are you guys using for insurance in ontario? The cheapest I can find for where i am is about 2000 CAD annual, which is about 4X what I was paying in europe, and over 2X from the US...

Insurance rates vary greatly from district to district, and model to model, as well as age and driving history here in Ontario. This is probably true in most areas regarding insurance. I'm a male rider, 38, in Toronto and insuring a 749 which is almost the insurance equivalent of 'the perfect storm'. However, I've been insured with PC Financial Insurance and am paying just over $700 a year (Lia. only), which was less than half what I was paying with my last insurer on my 748. Try there. Hope it helps

hey thanks. i checked them out, and according to their website, they've 'discontued' auto and home insurance, but their pet insurance seems to be going strong

im insuring in rural ottawa, which should be cheaper than toronto...am getting all my international driving experience papers together, but it doesn't seem to make a big difference.

State farm is your best bet, though we had to have our home and cars with them as well. My 2001 RC51 with full coverage is $930 yr. and my wifes 2009 Ducati M696 runs $869 yr. full coverage. We are 37 with clean records and live in Oshawa - much cheaper than Toronto rates.

Hope that helps.

thanks for the input. i've been dealing with state farm for the last 15 or so years (minus the last 2 ive been in europe), they have all my history, and are the most expensive company so far at 2200/year.
could be that i am not insuring a car with them too. state farm in the US was insuring me until 2006 ending at about 50/month.

Your cost is high in Ontario, but not to the extreme of B.C., for your Liability one must deal with the Provincial controlled ICBC & believe me it is super high. No choices of other firms bar that first part is money in the pocket of ICBC.

Do you live here, Smitty?

I just paid $269 for 3 months insurance on one of my bikes. You call that high? Plus, unlike Ontario, you only have to insure your bike for the months you ride it.

I ended up going with kingsway...they were the cheapest going through a broker in TO.

i just got a quote from state farm for a 2010 subaru impreza...they wanted 4000/year due an accident in 2006 (in the US no less)...everyone else seems to be willing to take around 1500/year. so long state farm.
