I'm REAL PEod they didn't tell me this when I ordered them, talked on phone for 10 minutes about them before I ordered and no mention of all this. How did anyone ever mount these things on a 1000SS and think they were worth anything?

When I reinstalled stock hardware I raised the clamp on the tube 3/8" and pushed the bars forward an inch and they are very solid with plenty of clamp area left, just as much rise as cyclecat said I could get and free! What is up with so many people praising these things for SS?
I had the same problem with my 800ss, when I went to re install the stock bars I switched the left & right clip ons ( you have to turn them upsided down to do this ) So instead of the sharp angle down they angle up, I couldnt believe the difference in comfort.

Now you loose some steering movement in doing this because my hands now hit the mirrors when doing sharp turns, So I took the mirrors out of where they are mounted and mounted them on top of the stock bracket, It works, little mickey mouse looking so this winter I will do something about that.

But it took such a uncomfortable bike, and turned it into a fine sport tourer!
