They're taking him for a ride! Just replace the necessary parts....rotor, caliper/pads, line. Anything else that is obviosly destroyed! You'd be suprised how resilent parts are! Start looking on ebay, i think most 748/9xx parts will interchange (including the hub) def. not a $2200 fix! i'd be taking it back to where i got it too! even used bikes should have some kind of warranty!
