Perhaps, but consider this:

(if my memory serves me....) The RC51's owners' manual has us changing the oil and NOT the filter for the first 300mi change.

I would presume that this is because the filter simply does not need changing so soon while the oil has been contaminated with assembly lube and various pieces of engine that the filter simply cannot deal with.

In fact i also remember that the next oil change does not come utnil something like 4k or so. Hmmmm........ so much for extended break-in periods.
