Yeah the Kei Hins seem to be touchy on fuel cleanliness. It doesn't take but a tiny bit to make the float needles leak. Tape it to an aluminum filter as the lines of magnetism permeate the aluminum like it isn't there. The problem with buying a filter is that almost nobody can tell you what the particle trap size is.
1 micron? 20? Who knows. Mebbe you can research this and select a filter with sufficient case and media volume that filters down to say 2-5 microns without clogging quickly. That'll solve the leakies and therefore a magnet isn't needed. For example the filter for many injected beemers and ducs are aluminum, filter quite well, but are almost 2" in diameter and 2" long. If you think it will fit you can pay the loony ducati price or like $15 for the identical beemer part.
